  • Tele made a good point in this thread. It's something I saw on an individual level this year with a group of women. How much weight is given to women's feelings, even if the reaction is not reasonable and how it's given as a "reason" for justifying wrong behavior. I was calling it the Cult of Name's Feelings. Not only is she obsessed with how she feels, but she has another person battling it out for her, and then they try to bully other women to "take her side" too. Everything is met with Name Feels Name Feels Name Feels.

It's so weird the way others give her feelings as a reason. Her friends should be giving her support to see reality not just stay wrapped up in her initial anger.

This situation isn't murder but it's being given as a reason for acting wrongly towards another family.

THIS is a straw man argument.

I'm not accusing anyone here of supporting abortion.  I'm criticizing the belief that women's persons are specially sacred (far above that of men) and stating that those who engage in mischief (not serious acts of brutality) with women do not deserve to be treated as though they touched an idol and deserve atrocious punishments.  And that it is this belief, that when women are merely scared, that they're e n t itled to behave with atrocious violence, that is why abortion is legal.

    Quote
What does abortion have to do with this?

It has to do with violence today's women (and the larger society) tend to believe they are ent i t l e d to commit.

    Quote
What sort of violence is atrocious?  A punch in the face (which probably wouldn't cause any damage whatsoever)?

Who said a punch in the face (that doesn't cause severe injury, as brass knuckles could) was wrong?

  • FYI: I think you mean the possessive of the plural of "woman".

    Singular:  Woman's

    Plural:  Women's

    Just pointing that out.

(Sorry, it was bugging me...no offense intended.)

  • My grammar is terrible (wish it was better) but I wrote women's?  :confused1: I'm missing it.

  • I think it was an accident.  It's in the subject line.

Great, now you're making me feel bad about pointing it out.    Didn't mean to make you feel bad.  You make a good point in your post...

    Me-quit posting, start reading...  :kick-can:

The apostrophe doesn't show up in topic titles.  I discovered that a while back.  Unfortunately, you can't edit a title, at least as far as I have been able to determine.

So if you want to show possession in a title, one should use the "of" as in, "The Cult of the Feelings of Women".

  • Nice grammatical recommendation!

In regards to the topic, I think women's feelings have been made into sort of a false god, because they are used to determine right and wrong.  Of course, men do it too.  The west seems to have abandoned God and reason.  Perhaps we've abandoned feelings too and opted for the chaos of impulse.

In any case, women are supposed to be more emotional than men.  So, they are often thought to be (perhaps erroneously at times) "emotional experts."  Men, on the other hand, are supposed to be "unfeeling-sterile-logic machines."  So, I don't know, but I guess that's just that tendency in our cultural revolution to exaggerate things, to ridiculous proportions, perhaps in order to achieve some revolutionary goal.  Like undermining patriarchy by  making "women's" feelings reign supreme, over "male" logic.

Of course, maybe the real goal is to make us all slaves to our passions and by undermining patriarchy and making whims reign over us all, the leaders of the revolution hope to advance chaos and subvert order.  The female is just a symbol/leader of that, because of her natural weakness, in that regard.

  • Maybe it has something to do with the curse of Eve, that her desire would be for her husband.  Desire is an emotional state, is it not?

Also, St. Paul says that women are to SUBMIT TO (respect) their husbands while he exhorts men to LOVE their wives.  Submission requires sublimating the emotions.  And men are to overcome their natural tendency to be "rational-logic-machines" and  show some tender caring and concern.  Interesting.
