  • We all know that the BO administration has continued to target pro-lifers. Now I am wondering why, after many years of no problems whatsoever, we are now being harassed by the IRS.

A month ago we received a noticed in the tens of thousands of dollars, saying we could make our payments in installments. Of course it was bogus, but still a hassle to do all the paperwork.

This week we received another bogus letter. Easy to disprove, but annoying.

The saving grace is that we can offer our suffering up, because it's obvious that these are not coincidences.

    Anyone else?

  •  I found this.

The experience of retired Army Lt. Col. Mark Drabik suggests a possible new dimension to the IRS story.

After retiring in 2009 from a distinguished military career, he took a civilian job at the Strategic Command in Omaha, Neb. For the first time in his adult life, he could express political beliefs openly. He frequently wrote to elected officials and participated in conservative marches in Washington, attending national tea party events and donating to conservative talk-show host Glenn Beck’s 912 movement.

Then came an audit letter from the IRS.

The agency questioned him about church donations, deductions for family respite care – which provides caregivers with a brief rest – and his daughter’s equine therapy, he said. A doctor prescribed the last two as necessary because of the stress of caring for Drabik’s 19-year-old autistic son. The deductions had been claimed for almost a decade without IRS complaint.

Amid the IRS scandal, Drabik now wonders whether his support of conservative causes is to blame.

“I did contribute to them. I did participate in the marches. That’s what worries me,” said Drabik, 49, who’s fighting the IRS over a sum in the ballpark of $20,000. After losing an IRS appeal, he was entitled to a second appeal, which to his great surprise went to the same person who handled his first.

The agency is prohibited from commenting on the cases of individuals.

For Drabik, a seed of doubt has been planted.

“I have to feel that that was a potential trigger” for the audit, he said, noting that the sum of his church donations and therapy deductions was pretty constant over almost a decade. “I am just a common citizen, who honorably served his nation for 23 years, who has not had this experience before and now honestly questions the actions and motivation of the IRS and how far they have gone in their actions.”

Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, one of the leading Republicans investigating the IRS targeting, blasted Thursday's court decision as a “sad day for liberty.” Jordan cited Texas businesswoman and activist Catherine Engelbrecht, who in March told Congress that after two decades of audit-free living, she was subjected to inquiries by the IRS, FBI, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). The agencies have investigated or audited Engelbrecht a combined 15 times since 2010—when she applied for tax-exempt status for her two conservative non-profit organizations.

“If that isn’t unwarranted harassment, I don’t know what is,” Jordan said in a statement. “If such grievances don’t warrant redress by our federal courts, I don’t know what does.”

My friend, I pledge to offer some very serious prayers for you, I promise.

We went through a fraudulent persecution - for over 100,000 US!!!  The local office levied it and LITERALLY just pulled the number out of the air due to me questioning some issues (a non American/non green card working out of the US is not liable for taxes). So one puny little bureaucrat caused incalculable amount of very severe stress, to the point of physical illness. Yep, he sure got revenge on me for asking too many questions.
No one can imagine the fear, and anger at the injustice of such a lie, unless you have lived it.  It gives me great empathy for those who live or have lived under totalitarian regimes. They have all the power and can crush you in a minute if they choose to.

In my case, I was living in a 'conservative' state and one of the senators was on the senatorial tax committee, so I appealed to him and he came through.  That was 15 years ago though.  I can't properly explain how horrible it was.  I thought for sure I'd lose everything and go to jail.  There's no mercy in tax court.  YOU are guilty, even if THEY LIE.   They can say anything they want, make up any amount that you supposedly owe them, and you have very little recourse, if any.

To your great credit, it sounds like you handled this calmly and with faith in God.  I was paralyzed with fear and struggled with that.
Also, your persecution comes directly from serving Him, so the graces you derive from this suffering are immense.
    God bless you.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. In your words, I see the same attack the enemy was launching against us. This agency lacks legitimate authority, but has immense power. Their power can be scary. Even with 15 years passed, it's still painful ordeal to have gone through. We can both continue to offer our suffering to God. I love how He takes what the enemy intends for evil and uses it for good.

This is my prayer. Lord I give you my suffering that You will be glorified and the enemy put to shame.
