I'm sure many of you have figured this out, but I'll post the obvious:
Not all posts are created equal here in the Anonymous subforum.
What posts are automatically superior, and to be taken more seriously than any others? Any posts by those who check that little box, "Do NOT post this Anonymously" so they post under their name.
It's just as good if they sign their screen name at the bottom of the post.
Posts where the poster was not afraid to sign their name are obviously much better, objectively speaking. With a few exceptions, the only reason someone would want to be anonymous in a RESPONSE is if they're afraid of getting thumbs-down, because they know their own post is garbage!
They are obviously afraid to own up to their post, for some reason.
Personally, I always post under my own name here. I've never been tempted not to. I'm always willing to own my posts.
Again, the point of this whole sub-forum was to enable discussion of delicate topics. Sometimes even the responses might require discretion and anonymity.
But not often.
In actual experience, most of the time people post anonymously here it's because the posters are ashamed of their own posts.
My point: If you see a thread on here where 9 anonymous posters say it's bright and sunny outside, but one users posts under his own name that it's pouring rain -- go ahead and cancel that picnic, without even checking it out for yourself.
More often than not, you'd be right. Because that's about how valuable and trustworthy those anonymous posts are.
