Hello everyone,

I am a young Catholic, and a little over 3 months ago I received my lifelong general Confession with an SSPX priest.
However, at the time, I truly believed that it was okay to attend Diocesan Latin Masses, as I truly believed in the validity of the New Rite. I believed all this even though I had heard compelling arguments against the validity of the New Rite and Rome approved Latin Masses. I continued to attend Diocesan TLMs and only just recently I realized the doubt that comes with the New Rite and that I could no longer attend these Traditional Masses.
I think this may have been willful ignorance on my part, if not an outright wrongdoing. Is this an act of schism or heresy that I simply need to go to regular Confession for, or does this invalidate my first general Confession, meaning I have to get another one? I have very bad scrupulosity and it only makes matters worse.
I also would like to email a priest about these matters, who would know better, but I am unsure who to email as I may get different answers depending on what Traditional group the priest belongs to.

You do not need to go to confession for this. I would only make sure that the SSPX was a valid priest (and not a Novus Ordo priest that was never conditionally ordained), so you know that you received valid absolution in your general confession.

You certainly do NOT need to re-do your Confession. You’re still learning, which is good and pleasing to God. Think of a young child who makes mistakes in the process of learning self care. He will make mistakes along the way and self-correct them as he grows. Perhaps he dresses himself and puts his shoes on the wrong feet, or his his buttons are misaligned, one sock inside out. Or he brushes his teeth, but does a less than thorough job. These are not sins or being naughty. I would simply cease attending the diocesan Mass.
If your conscience still bothers you, raise the matter in your next confession and follow the instructions of the priest. After that, forget it. The devil especially likes to make new converts miserable through scrupulosity.
