  • It seems to me there are three tiers when it comes to speaking about participation at an SSPX chapel: personal (sacraments), local (volunteering/misc donations), and organizational (collection baskets). There are other threads here which have addressed the first and the last in some detail, but I'm not seeing very much about how you help your local chapel and whether or not you'll continue to do so.

Will you or have you quit any volunteering (bake sales, catechism teacher, altar server, cleaning group, etc) at your chapel? Why or why not?

  • After the General Chapter 2012 we wrote to Menzingen, to the bishops, to the local district superior, to the local priests, and to some faithful, to say good-bye. We shun the SSPX like they taught us to shun the Novus Ordo and the Ecclesia Dei communities. They endanger the Faith.

We see no relevant difference between submitting to modernist Rome or wishing to be permitted to submit to modernist Rome.

I like to hear such things! My question would be, "do you have other Mass options?" But, it's not really on topic for this thread as this question is for those who will still be attending the SSPX at this point.

  • Well, for one thing we do our volunteer work for the glory of God, not for Fr. Rostand or Bishop Fellay.

Who benefits by our efforts? We render honor to God, and even our fellow parishioners aren't benefiting personally, but they are better able to worship God on their part -- so it's still for God ultimately.

I suppose it could be argued that having a beautiful/flower-decorated altar, a chapel with paid bills, clean floors, resonant choir, or hot coffee in the hall will encourage people to attend the SSPX chapel.

Can we protest to the human members of the Society without being prejudicial to our duties to God or to souls? In other words, let's not withhold any honor or glory to God by our "strikes" or "protests".

If funny business starts happening at SSPX chapels, then by all means leave completely. But we should be wary of depriving ourselves of the life-giving sacraments of the Church. It must be for a grave reason -- like Novus Ordo grave.

I don't think "a weasel of a priest" is enough of a reason.

  • If the weasel takes heads off and leaves bodies strewn, I would leave the weasel.  Chapter 12 of Daniel says that one day, there will be no continual sacrifice for about 3 and a half years.  We must protect the faith as the people of Japan did hundreds of years ago who were in hiding for over 300 years and the faith was 65% still there.  We can only pray, penance and hope for the same.

But my priest hasn't "taken any heads off" nor is he even an accordista.
