  • Someone in the SSPX/Rome Agreement subforum recently said there was a retreat preached, with Bishop Fellay in attendance, in which thee retreat master said something along the lines of it no longer being practical in the modern world to have more than 5-6 children.

Does anyone have any docuмentation, recordings, etc in which one may investigate whether this quote was taken out of context, or necessary nuances were left out or missed, etc?

This would be incredible if this is what the SSPX is really teaching.

    If.

If that were true, it would definitely be the opinion of one SSPX priest, not the whole SSPX.

God gives as many children as he knows a marriage needs. Perhaps all the priest meant was that most families need 5-6 children.

  • A German priest, identity not told me, was on this retreat with Bp. Fellay.  The unnamed priest told this to Fr. Pfeiffer, my source of information.  Keep in mind the game, "Telephone," when I say that Fr. Pfeiffer in no way implied that the retreat master meant to say that "God gives most families no more than five or six children."  Think about it.  Does it sound reasonable for a well-educated priest to make such a silly statement to other priests?  No, I fear he meant that German  families should limit themselves to five or six children.

  •  :dancing-banana:As I warned, think, "Telephone" game.  I was not given the context of the comment, and Fr. Pfeiffer was not present at the retreat.  If this priest begins to openly preach limiting one's family, no doubt more will be known.  Until then, suspend judgement.
