By Traditional Priest do you actually mean the one novus ordite presider at your parish who leaves his hula hoop at home? LOL! Since he said it's okay to not actually hold a rosary, ask him if it's important to say the rosary or if it's just okay to say the rosary if you feel an urge. What I mean by this is that your priest may think the rosary is an albatross from a less enlightened period but if you want to hold on to vestiges of the past then that's okay as long as you keep it to yourself.
No, he's definately not a Novus Ordite, far from it. He's the one who told me it was alright to miss mass if a NO parish was the only option available.
He's an ardent lover of the Rosary, and even scolded me one time when I told him I had been neglecting to say it daily.
I'm just going to go ask him again. Maybe I misunderstood what he meant the first time, I don't know. It's far more likely that I misunderstood than to claim poor advice coming from a holy priest.
I don't know who asked for the book reference, but it wasn't me. Thankyou for offering to look it up, but I'm going to bow out of this conversation now. I'm sure to find the answer I seek eventually. :)
Please don't bow out of the conversation and I'm sorry for making the inflammatory comment about your priest. Sometimes priests have a lot on their minds and he may have actually wanted his answer to you to encourage you to pray the rosary and not to become bogged down with details regarding indulgences.
