  • Are the SSPX chapels in Florida safe or do they deny the sacraments to supporters of the Resistance and/or sedevacantists there?  I am visiting a relative's home and was considering driving to Mass tomorrow for the Feast of the Epiphany.  If the priests in Florida deny sacraments like that, though, I don't see how they're different than the SSPV.

  • If you're a guest there, how would they know who or what you support?

It's the principle of the matter.  I don't attend SSPV chapels because they deny Communion to anybody who received sacraments from Thuc-line bishops without first confessing it.  This would be similar, I think.  A schismatic attitude on the part of priests without any ordinary jurisdiction.

I think that is an admirable stance. If more people acted similarly, some of the trad. clergy wouldn't step so far out of line. Using the sacraments as blackmail or leverage is unacceptable.

    Bravo.

Sanford, FL has the worst reputation, but that rep doesn't include the denial of sacraments to anyone AFAIK.

ADD: As I call to mind things I have read about that chapel, I'd say if there is any SSPX chapel to stay away from even a single visit as a matter of principle, Sanford, FL would probably be the one. (I presume other FL locations are serviced by that priory but not necessarily by the prior, who is the biggest offender of record.)

  • Yes, I saw that about Sanford.  Is that his only chapel, or do the priests who live in Florida serve the remaining Florida chalels?  I assume there's a priory.

    Sanford is the priory.

  • We were in Florida on December 8th which is feast of the Immaculate Conception.

We went to Mass in Sanford, Florida.   The priest didn't deny us Holy Communion.   He was kind and charitable.

In fact, the people were really normal, kind and charitable including the priest.

We even saw  Resistance Catholics from St Jude's SSPX from Philly who also was visiting Florida.  It is a small world after all. Lol.
Sanford was quite different from Philadelphia in a good way.

  •  :dancing-banana:If I ever find the perfect chapel, don't let me in.  I'll spoil it!
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.
