  • But I haven't been enrolled.

I took it to the parish priest with the paper that came with it and asked to be enrolled.

He said "What do you mean by 'enrolled?'  I think you mean that you want it [the scapular] blessed."

So he blessed the scapular and went on his way.

Now I have a blessed scapular that I can't wear yet.

  • You can wear it even if you aren't enrolled.
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

It sounds like a Novus Ordo "priest".  I would say that he wasn't a valid priest, therefore your scapular hasn't even been blessed.  What valid Priest, wouldn't know about enrolling someone in the Brown Scapular?

  • My Priest gave a good Homily last week and included stuff about the scapular.  He said it's a nice blessed thing to wear, but at the hospital it's the first thing they'll cut off you.  Basically wearing the scapular doesn't make you special, it's living a a Holy life, confessing your sins regularly, and doing your pennance and good deeds is what will save you.  I see several of the Novus Order folk pulling out their scapulars and putting them on before they recieve communion.  The Holy Father nailed it in his Homily, people think they can go a lifetime and convert or confess on their deathbed with last rites and be saved.

  • I had surgery with my scapular on. They kept my grandmother's scapular on her when she went to the hospital. If you have a medal attached, then I can see why they would take it off, but a wool scapular should be no problem. But just in case, always tell the nurses that the scapular must be kept on at all times.
