  • ... to the point that you don't intend to read any more of their posts? It seems sinful to me, I'm just not sure exactly what species of sin it is.

  • It would be sinful only to the extent that speaking to any person you don't respect is sinful.

Whether or not one could participate very long before being banned, however, would not touch upon the aspect of sin.

  • I'm not sure I follow how this is sinful.
For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders, insomuch as to deceive (if possible) even the elect. (Matthew 24:24)

Can anyone translate this into the vernacular? I don't speak British.

  • I don't see how it would be sinful.  Perhaps if participating stirs animosity in you to the point that it's sinful, I suppose.  JayneK apparently thought CI too scandalous to be associated with in her going-away-but-she-didn't-go-away drama llama thread.  Seems to me a disclaimer in one's signature would even take care of that.  Such a disclaimer may motivate us to help Disputaciones find a few more colorful synonyms for "effeminate"--but that should take care of any conscientious objections.

    This is humor.

Greg means that it's not a real sin, and that it's as absurd to think it a sin as it would be to consider the chicken an endangered species.

  • I'm not certain, but since I am sure Matthew can see whomever is posting anonymously- you may be banned forthwith. At least I would- I wouldn't allow anyone into my surroundings who openly voiced actual disrespect for me. But then, he may be a bigger person than I am.

We do not know that this person is speaking of this forum (although you are correct that Matthew can see the IP of the guest). I have a feeling I know who the guest is but I could be wrong.

  • I think it was defined in the council of Florence,  "If any clergyman or laic should participate in the forum of a moderator for whom he withholds respect, let him be anathema." Or something along those lines.

In regards to the OP, I sometimes openly state my disagreements with the administrator of a forum, and I hope that it demonstrates some level of respect.  I'm not going to brown nose and team up with moderators just to fit in and feel good.  I think what I think, I try not to cross the line too much, and I hope that my words propel conversation in an entertaining and perhaps insightful manner.

A lot of good has come from my openly challenging moderators.  For example, just recently, in expressing my disagreements with another forum, I've apparently learned that it's a sin to call a priest names.

    Who knew?
