  • I for one am sick and tired of the ongoing debate about Malachi Martin and would be glad the subject of him was never brought up again.  Either one believes he was the greatest and did wonderful work exposing all the evils in the Church or you believe he was a total charlatan.  Neither side is ever going to capitulate to the other so what's the point?  People are going to believe what they want and most of the time nothing is going to persuade them to change their opinion.

That's not what's going on.  Since his death, he has continued to have an increasing influence on Catholics, making them aware of the Crisis in the Church and drawing them into or back into the traditional practice of the faith.

A number of people don't like this. Trads who disagreed or were jealous, liberals who hated his ability to deconstruct their arguements and gunslingers who were out to build a reputation on taking him down.

I do not believe he was "the greatest" just like I don't believe Frs. Feeney or Coughlin were "the greatest" or even Archbishop LeFebvre.

But people want to know about him and the detractors try their best to defame him and those of us who find him worthwhile and beneficial will continue to defend him.

Whatever your motives in wanting him banned as a topic, you are automatically promoting the position of the liberals and the jealous trads and denying the people who might benefit from his works, those good things he offered in the service of the Church.

  • His hatred of the Gospel and blasphemies against Christ are unsurpassed even by the rabbis.

People can read their catechism, the writings of the Saints, &c., to find the holy Faith.

Why not just pray for the late Fr. Martin, whose soul has been judged by Our Lord and that judgment has not been revealed to us: so let's all just let the departed be, and focus on the Faith.

These ridiculous fights are just making it more easy to many to turn away in disgust.

Everyone and anyone can pray for his soul, that doesn't rule out defending his name and work.

Tell that to the enemies of Fr. Martin that come up with half-baked conspiracy theories and promote weird ideas about him.  As you said, he's dead and gone to his judgement.  If they don't like what he wrote about the Church or teacher, then they can read their catechisms and writings of saints.

Those of us that benefitted from Fr. Martin and came to tradition from listening to him don't want his work impeded since it helps souls like ours get closer to Christ.

His books and interviews especially in the later years give a framework for understanding the world, the Church and the scheme of things regarding our lives and the fate of our souls.

As Bishop Williamson stated about Fr. Martin,(paraphrase)  he can reach people that are not accessible to the SSPX or the other usual avenues of evangelization.

  • I, too, am disgusted with the banter surrounding Father Martin. I wish people would have had the guts to attack him while he was alive. Some did. And he handled it like another priest I used to know: He ignored it. Good on him. I hope he prays for the pitiful souls that go on attacking him, beating a dead horse, over and over again.

  • Was fr. Malachi Martin a villain and did he write "The Pilgrim"?  If so, what would be the status of his soul at death?  That book is a serious spiritual sabotage and attack on the Catholic soul.

  • As for "The Pilgrim" let us not forget the despicable accusations in that book directed at the heart and soul of the faith for the singular and diabolical purpose of demoralizing the Catholic faithful so that, in our dazed and weakened state, our enemies could have their way with us.  Maybe his whole "I want to tell you the truth about Vatican II" was to keep the traditionalists deceived by following a deceiver.

The book ends with the hope that Paul VI would be able to rally the world around the Church and draw all its people to God with the Petrine Primacy being the focal point of unity.

You must not have read it or read it through. And you couldn't have read the jacket either.

My little conclusion, from what I've learned here and elsewhere lately, is that Martin was an "Otto Kahn" "Occupy Vatican II Traditionalist Reaction" agentur.
