  • I stay away from the lottery because I have better ways to spend my money.  It is so sad to see many low income
people on welfare check day spend a large portion of their welfare money at the lottery machine.
Engaging in the state lottery becomes for many an uncontrolled addition like drugs. It breeds corruption.
Towards the end of the month these people are borrowing money from their friends and family.
No good Catholic whom treasures his salvation will every have anything to do with the lottery.
Remember, the lottery is not designed to lose money. Your chances of winning a large sum of money
    is one in a million.
The is a case of a resident of the town I live in won $40,000.  He had to pay Federal and State taxes. In all
the years he was pouring money into the lottery tickets, he spend over $40,000.
I say 99.9% of the people that play the lottery are the losers.
Do not surrender to the temptation of playing the lottery, and avoid places such as Las Vegas, and Cripple
    Creek.

  • You shouldn't play the lottery if your goal is to do so as a legit investment, for obvious reasons.

If you're just doing it for fun I don't see much difference from any other entertainment, save the possible addictive value (which is considerable, but not universal.)

  • That devout Catholic priestly society has "won" countless bequests and legacies over the past 50 years. Thank you very much.
The result is that all roads now lead to Rome sweet Home

  • Of course. It was not the lottery, but I remember when a pious soul won the McDonalds "Monopoly" game (he or she got Park Place AND Boardwalk) and gave the money to the Church (I believe it was a convent). He gave all, not just a tithe.
