  • Should I try to convert my home-aloner sede friend? I have spoken of my sedevacantist friend before and how he has some strange ideas. Like how he thinks it is impossible for sodomy to be forgiven. He has always been a big follower of the Dimond brothers and their word is gospel to him. Well he is becoming more and more dogmatic in his home aloner stance. Now he says we should not go to any priest for Mass, and only go to them for Confession if we need to. Because going to Mass and especially receiving Communion would show that we agree with such priests which we can't because they are all heretics according to the Dimonds. He seems like he is really a schismatic, reducing the Church to a few faithful followers of the Dimond Brothers cult with no priests and no bishops. I go to the SSPX and he would not go even there even if he could. He can not go anyway because he is disabled, but he thinks they are all heretics and evil for not believing in the true understanding of EENS and not being sedevacantists. Do you think he is in danger of damnation for schism because he is not in union with any priests or bishops alive on earth today? We are supposed to say "Where the Bishop is, there is the Church" but it is confusing today and we are like Old Believers since Vatican II.

  • Yes I'd try to convert him.  I wouldn't worry too much about whether he's damned or not, only God knows that, but he's definitely hurting himself by cutting himself off from sacraments.

Likely a large part of the problem is that your friend has too much time on his hands and too few responsibilities. This leaves time to dwell excessively on a subject, and on himself, without any corrective counterbalance.  Even the most ascetic of monks do manual labor and go for long walks to clear their head.
My advice is to pray for your friend and try to get him involved in something where he has some responsibilities. Help him to find an area where there is a real need to be filled. If possible get him out in nature; God's creation has a healing effect.

It is hard because my friend is blind and cannot walk and has diabetes and his kidneys don't work, so he is confined to a chair. I try to help by talking to him often and being a friend and I bring him food sometimes. But he is in such bad shape that it is hard for him to have any kind of work to keep his mind occupied.

That's a real cross to bear!

Is he able to use his hands enough to pray the Rosary?

Maybe something to try is to ask him to pray for a specific person or intention each day. As you come across people in your daily life who are in need, mention them to him. It would do much good for them and him.
If you do ask him to pray for someone or something and you notice that it has helped, be sure to tell him about it. And tell him that others are praying for him as well.

P.S. Keep up the good work.

  • Getting him away from the Dimond cult is probably the best thing to start with.

  • I had the same problem with a lady friend.  Time on her hands, read everything from the Diamonds and I became an instant heretic who she refuses to talk with anymore.

I just meant a lady and her son, converts and then she gave me thoughts of confusion and the Holy Ghost prompted me to mention the Diamonds, and low and behold she says, how did you know?!  Ha!

  • I'm not sure "convert" is the right word here --- he is a Catholic, you are a Catholic, he just has some strange ideas about the nature of the Church in the present day, obviously fueled by the Dimonds.

In all of this, I don't think any of us are "written out of the Church", we just come to different conclusions, whether reluctant Summorum pontificuм adherents, SSPX, sedevacantists, home-aloners, Dimond adherents, or even if we've run off and followed "Pope Michael", or in the other direction, I would submit, those entirely doctrinally orthodox "conservative Novus Ordo" who think it is their bounden duty, binding under pain of mortal sin, to defend the Novus Ordo, Vatican II, and Francis and his bishops, to the moon and back.  None of these people want to "go against the Church", they just have different ideas as to what that means and entails.

I would say just to point out his errors to him, make allowance for his disabilities, invoke the Holy Ghost, and let it go.

I assumed "Convert" was being used casually, as in convert to a different way of thinking, not necessarily a formal belief that he's not in the Church (IDK one way or the other)

It sounds like you are doing what you can for him, and this will help him to have a more positive outlook, one would hope.
Is he down in spirit? Can you possibly bring a priest to visit with you?
Is it possible for him to access recorded books? e.g. https://bookaudio.online/authors  (secular) or you might also find Catholic books.
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

    Good advice.
Be a good example, try to talk sense, but you're going to need to pray for him. Can't leave that out.

  • I was talking to my friend again. Again he mentioned how he believes the government with the help of demons kidnaps children and transforms them into animals in Area 51.

I mean, he's not necessarily off the mark if you know about the collusion between Aleister Crowley, Jack Parson, L. Ron Hubbard and the U.S. Government during the atomic tests of the 1940s-50s. Throw in the strong possibility of any such "aliens" as really being demonic entities, and he probably isn't that far off the mark (as crazy as it sounds).
That said, I have never heard of children being turned into animals.  :laugh2:
