  • Help me out here.  Is it okay for someone to do unnecessary work on the upcoming Feast of the Immaculate Conception, 15 August?

I think the answer is no.

    Am I right?

  • Yes.  You are right.  Holy Days are to be treated just as Sundays.

Please note that the Feasts that are considered Holy Days differs from nation to nation.  You need to be aware of what the Holy Days are in you country.

  • I was taught by clergy that when possible, schedule that day off.  So at the beginning of the year, holydays that fall on a work day are submitted to your employer well in advance as a personal or vacation day.

For some this is not always possible, perhaps only a few holydays can be taken, but I believe in most cases it is certainly possible but few do it.

This is similar to the Friday abstinence whining from some that they just can't do without their meat due to ...fill in the blank supposedly good reason... despite many alternative sources of protein.

He said 'the gate is narrow' for a reason.  We don't walk the talk if it inconveniences our worldly life too much.  Yes even us trads.

The Feast of the Immaculate Conception is December 8
The Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is August 15.
