There are thousands of thought-provoking quotes out there, from saints, popes, Doctors of the Church, great men, leaders, kings, pioneers of the traditional movement, truth-tellers talking about the modern world, and let's not forget the Bible.

And out of all of those, this is deemed by you to be the most important, the one you're most dying to share with the world?

    Quote
'Flores apparuerunt in terra nostra. . . Fulcite me floribus.' (The flowers appear on the earth. . . stay me up with flowers. Sg 2:12,5)'-

Whatever "stay me up with flowers" means. I, for one, am not exactly jumping up and down to be "stayed up" with flowers. I'm a guy.

For a man to get that excited about flowers... as Jim Carrey would say, "Alllll-righty then!"

    Oh, do get over yourself.

It is part of the Canticle of Canticles.  Go and find it.  It is in the Bible.

Second, who cares?  What difference does it make to you what someone chooses to put on their signature line?  As long as it isn't sinful, it shouldn't matter to you in the least.  And furthermore, how do you know that Shin is not a lady?  I don't know, but your hasty judgements over something that shouldn't be worried about are unbecoming.

You clearly need to go outside and do something useful.  Or, perhaps sit down and look at some flowers.  They are God's good creation too and there is nothing wrong with admiring them.

  • Surely, ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖity is a horrible crime, yet assuming that another person is ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ because they like flowers (even if said poster is a man) is very much a sinister act as well.

I do hope and pray that the time spent in purgatory for such a horrible, public act will be lessened for you, o unfortunate soul.

Easy, tiger!  Put down the fireplace poker. I was just asking an honest question. It says shin is in group "men" so I wasn't jumping to any conclusions. Unlike you :)

Not every verse of the Bible is equally crying out to be quoted by traditional Catholics living in the 21st century. Consider Genesis chapter 19 verse 33:
And they made their father drink wine that night: and the elder went in and lay with her father: but he perceived not neither when his daughter lay down, nor when she rose up.

Is that the quote the needs to be recalled on a daily basis by traditional Catholics on CI?

  • 'Flores apparuerunt in terra nostra. . . Fulcite me floribus. (The flowers appear on the earth. . . stay me up with flowers. Sg 2:5-12)

In the garden of the Church, Mary gathers three flowers and places them into your hands: the white lily, the red rose, the pale violet. The lily is the symbol of purity of conscience of life. The rose represents that burning love which purifies, perfects and elevates the heart to God. The violet is the emblem of the evangelical mortification which keeps us canditus, et rubicundus ("fresh, and ruddy" Sg 5:10) according to the desire of the Beloved of our heart et pascitur inter lilia. ("who pastures his flock among the lilies" Sg 2:16, Sg 6:2) The picture of the lily draws you away from the world. The image of the rose unites you with the heart of Jesus. Finally, the violet makes you partakers of the fruits of the Cross of Jesus. May the most holy Virgin who presents you with these flowers, find them still in your hands in your last agony as a pledge for entrance into the home to which only the pure lovers of Jesus Crucified are admitted.'

    St. Gaspar del Bufalo

1 I AM the flower of the field, and the lily of the valley.
    (a) Christ professeth himself the flower of mankind: yea Lord of all creatures.
2 (b) As the lily among the Thorns, so is my love among the daughters.
    (b) The Church excelleth all other societies: In the Church the godly excel sinners, Among the innocent and holy, the virgin Mary surpasseth all.
3 (c) As the apple tree among trees of the woods, so is my beloved among the sons. Under his shadow, whom I desired, I sat: and his fruit was sweet unto my throat.
    (c) The Church praising Christ resteth secure under his protection.
4 He brought me into the wineceller, he hath ordered in me charity.
5 Stay me up with flowers, compass me about with apples: because I languish with love.
6 His left hand under my head, and his righthand shall embrace me.
7 I adjure you o daughters of Jerusalem, by the roes, and the hearts of the fields, (d) that you raise not, nor make the beloved to awake, until herself will.
    (d) He for the weaks sake permitteth her not to be molested, till she be prepared to suffer with patience.
8 (e) The voice of my beloved, behold he cometh leaping in the mountains, leaping over the little hills:
    (e) She feeling Christs assistance, confesseth, & preacheth boldly his Gospel, & truth against all Pagans, and Heretics.
9 my beloved is like unto a roe, and to a fawn of hearts. Behold he standeth behind our wall, (f) looking through the windows, looking forth by the grates.
    (f) Who though he show not himself visibly:
10 Behold my beloved speaketh to me: (g) Arise, make hast my love, my dove, beautiful one, and come.
    (g) yet encourageth her to approach unto him:
11 For winter is now past, the rain is gone, and departed.
12 The flowers have appeared in our land, the time of pruning is come: the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land:

Normally I have links in my signature as well, however you can't do that here. One of the links that is normally in my sig leads here, maybe this will help you.

You don't have to be so rude about it. Selections on Hell might help me, huh? Are you telling me to go to Hell? Are you rash judging my soul, or what?

  • Why is this such a big deal for you, OP?  If you were that curious why not just send Shin a PM and ask?

I fail to see how someone's signature line is that important.

I get very tired of nit-picking amongst trads.  I see it time and again and it is really not necessary.  It has the effect of making us look like scrupulous fools and it is extremely discouraging to the people being constantly pointed out.

If it isn't a sin, then why worry about it?

  • OP if you are so honest why can't you post under your real name? The anonymous forum is a playground for trolls like yourself.  You shouldn't act innocent. You know your post was an antagonistic and uncharitable one.

Wonderful explanation, Shin. The OP should be ashamed of himself.
Religion clean and undefiled before God and the Father, is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their tribulation: and to keep one's self unspotted from this world.
    ~James 1:27

If you can't see an astounding difference between what you just quoted and Shin's quote, you probably shouldn't be making posts about signatures.

Why not PM Shin and ask the significance of the signature, instead of making a thread about and also making comments about how effeminate it is?

  • I've spent so much time telling people about the fewness of the saved and Hell, one would think I need to stop and spend some time looking at the flowers.

For folks who benefit from such reading, I have much more I can refer you to. For folks who don't.. don't read it.. mortify your curiosity.

I agree. Look in the mirror. You can't rib a guy about his sig line without being burned at the stake. Talk about nit picking.

  • Matthew:  please, please consider deleting the anonymous posts category.  It has become an occasion of sin for all of us, and I don't read it very often!  The thread titles "innocently" drag me in....where I shouldn't be at all.  Thank you.
