  • What are some things that men think traditional catholic men could improve in? Marriage, work etc?

  • There's a Fr. Ripperger sermon somewhere online where he speaks of the particular faults of traditional Catholics.

  • If Traditional Catholic Men were to focus on being more Christ-like they would not hate women so much, but instead would consider them sisters in need of love, patience and encouragement.
And if Traditional Catholic women would focus on being more Mary-like, they would dress much more beautiful and feminine and would hold their toungue instead saying such cruel things behind the backs of others.

Probably then both Catholic men and women would not talk so much BS anonymously, either.

  • We’re all anonymous on the internet. I don’t see why this is a problem. Other than you want to call someone out on their history, which would be uncharitable.

For one thing they could be more beautiful, feminine, soft, and pleasant.
Stop getting fat, bitter, and ugly.
    Stop being masculinized and unpleasant.

  • Perhaps if we ALL would focus more on not being offensive to God (after all, He is always hanging around), the improvements in whatever individual area/s of our life would follow naturally and supernaturally.
Just my (relatively) uneducated two cents.

While I am fairly good looking for a 60 year old woman, people (other than my husband) are unlikely to describe me as beautiful.  Much of our physical appearance is beyond our control and failures to meet society's concept of beauty should not be treated as moral failings.  We need to focus on interior qualities, not on physical characteristics.

I've never been able to separate PURE physical appearance from the qualities of the person.  In my mind, there's no such thing as physical beauty independent of spiritual beauty.

Fathers need to take an active role in the teaching of their children specially the girls, instead of relying on a school to teach them. They need to prepare their boys for a livelihood, teach them from infancy. They need to teach the girls how to dress modestly and how to avoid the trap (the lie), the flaw that practically all women of today have, that their self esteem and beauty is judged by how good they are at attracting men.

Even so, telling women to be beautiful is somewhat useless as a piece of advice.  If you mean to talk about character then you need to specify what spiritual qualities need to be developed in order to accomplish this.

Much of our physical appearance is beyond our control

True, an ugly woman will not become pretty not matter how much she tries. However, there are many things a woman can do, to go from merely plain or unattractive, to positively repugnant.

Few come to mind: poor hygiene, gaining weight, getting tattoos, chopping her hair off, dying it in an unnatural color, dressing masculine, having a sour and entitled attitude.

So all women, even those who are not born naturally beautiful, can strive to at least have good hygiene habits, stay slender, groom their hair,  dress femininely, smile and open their mouths to only say nice things.

Everyone knows deep down inside that there are objective standards of beauty. Nothing wrong with that.

  • As I aged my body changed in various ways.  I eventually reached a stage where staying slender, if possible at all (it isn't always), would have taken time and effort that would have interfered with the duties of my state of life.  Similarly, my hair became coarse and grey.  It was impossible to keep a long style looking attractive without expending an unreasonable amount of effort, so I adopted a short, easily-maintained style.  I look like a grandmother.  Since I have 8 grandchildren, I don't see this as a problem.

When I think of self-improvement, I think of things like becoming more kind and gentle.  I would like to become more wise and more self-controlled, especially with temptations to anger.  I have some serious character flaws that need work.  I doubt that I will ever progress on these enough to start worrying about being short-haired and plump.  I'm not sure it these are low priorities or simply not on the list.  I am puzzled that Mr. Anonymous (I am fairly sure this is a man) places so much importance on them.

I like how Last Tradhican put it a few posts up thread:

... avoid the trap (the lie), the flaw that practically all women of today have, that their self esteem and beauty is judged by how good they are at attracting men.
