It would be science fiction if the parents never chose a technologically advanced home that shifted responsibility for decision-making and "control" to technology, and if instead a machine or computer system took over the house against the will of the adults there.
When adults surrender their brains to technology -- such as asking Siri basic questions like, "how many cups in a quart" (you didn't learn that in elementary school?) -- that is a decision the adults are making, not a science fiction script.
