Hello Cathinfo I thought I should bring something to your attention. As you may know there is a particularly popular Catholic blogger who goes by SBYVL. He is always very astute and good defender of the faith. He also runs a Catholic forum known as the "Te Deum Forum". A former member of that forum contacted me today with some intersting info. This member was banned for multiple reasons none of which I approve of. Anyway he has given me the text of emails between him and the blogger. Most of these emails are not of particular importance just a back and forth exchange on why the former member should be reinstated. But a peculiar line is said by the blogger


"Why do you need my forum?  The only thing you truly need is Faith in God to achieve salvation."

Curious words from a "Conservative Catholic" blogger. That sounds similar to the heresy of Sola Fide. But I'll leave you to judge. I was asked by this former member of the bloggers forum to bring this to your attention.

Obviously, I do not affirm the Protestant heresy of salvation by faith alone. The anonymous user who posted this OP was the former TD member Jeffab1993, who was banned for a number of reasons in the last week.

The OP tweaked a word or two of my message to him that significantly altered the meaning of what I said. I will post screenshots of the emails once one of my moderators blacks out the OP's email address for me.

Moreover, I will also be posting screenshots of comments Jeff left on my blog, wherein he used a number of obscenities (although I will have these blacked out) directed at me.

It is shameful that Jeff has decided to do this, particularly as an anonymous poster rather than as a registered user, and in my opinion it shows he is void of a great deal of Catholic morals and scruples.

You do not give nearly enough information.
We need to know who the poster was that got banned and why the poster was banned, who all was involved, what exactly was said that got him banned, how Sbyvl was feeling that day ie was he having a good day or was he having an off day etc.

Apparently the User was banned for causing inter forum strife between the Te Deum forum and a forum called Suscipe Domine. He hasn't given me much beyond that out of fear his personal info will "leak". Though I have sent him and email pressing for more information

Interpersonal comments between laypersons does not rise to the level of heresy.  The comment may seem a little watered down and bare but it's likely that the poster didn't mean that ALL you really need is faith in God.  However, with everything else, but no faith in God, your souls would be in danger.

Sbyvl sounds like Luther - are you sure Sbyvl was not just mocking the poster who got himself banned? - because that's what it sounds like.
I mean isn't Sbvyl, perhaps the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful Catholic human being living?  What he is purported to have said just does not sound like it is something he would ever say, not at all.

Hmmm. Smear jobs happening in cross forum posts - not good. Next thing you know the whole world will know about this - again, not good.

But it's not fair to say one person's name and not the other, and if there are any posts you could link to that would be a very big help, and also we must have the name of the other poster - it is not right to know only Sbyvl's name and not the other guy.

Couldn't agree more. I loathe the abuse of the anonymous subforum by skulking, limp-wristed cowards whose only desire is to say what they wish with no repercussions to themselves whatsoever.

Accusations made by anonymous cowards in the absence of the accused aren't worth the paper they're (virtually) printed on. This thread is a catty, gossipy, effeminate disgrace that I'd say belongs in a henhouse if that weren't such insult to the hens.
