  • Hello Guest. Glad to see another Beatle fan here. The only things I listen to after 1965 are

    What Is Life
    Rain
    Get Back
    Good Day Sunshine
    It Don't Come Easy
    Photograph
    Savoy Truffle
    I Me Mine
    Martha
    Back In USSR
    Something

Too many to list the early stuff.

Have U been to thebeatleforum ?

What do U have for home speakers and receiver?

  • I got tired of Come Together & don't care for it anymore.

I am surprised U don't think that much of George. MO is that the vocals are the least important aspect of a song and the words mostly inconsequential. Having said that, I think George is the best vocalist in the Beatles. His voice is much deeper, richer & more melodic than Paul or John. It is true that Paul and John have a unique sound and of course they are all 3 at their best together but listen closely to Dont Bother Moi, Happy To Dance W/ U, Beethoven, U Like Me Too Much, Think For Yourself, and If I Needed Something.

I also think that the last 2 are the best songs on Rubber Soul-- their only mediocre album. Ringo calls it 'the departure album'. The rest is all downhill w/ a few exceptions.  Something is probably his greatest but his voice is gone by then from heavy tobacco use.

Paul set the standard for only one Beatle being on a song so MO is that any song w/ at least one Beatle is same same. I also don't think that George is any less important than Paul in the overall scheme of things. He has a unique perspective on John & Paul and is the one who first realises that Ringo is a Beatle.

Although Ringo doesn't actually become a Beatle for another 2 yrs, he is none the less the drummer on their very first studio recording. His Band was in Hamburg at the same time and Pete was AWOL somewhere or not in the group yet.

    Thanks for response  :smoke-pot:

If U want TOL headphones, trust me. Ultrasone HF-680-- about $200. They have a $ 500 model but U dont need it.

Your enthusiasm for George inspired me to take a look at all the Beatles tracks he wrote. I even re-listened to his pre-White Album output. Still don't like any of it.

    These are the goodies:

    While My Guitar Gently Weeps
    Long, Long, Long
    Something
    Here Comes the Sun
    I Me Mine
    For You Blue
    Old Brown Shoe

Not bad. Three bonafide classics, and the others are pretty good, too. Though how you think he even approaches John and Paul in terms of creativity is a mystery. I like his voice alright.

Speaking of What is Life, etc being Beatles songs, I agree with that. If you look at the best post-Beatles material the four of them recorded, most of it came within 3 years of the breakup, and they often played on each others solo albums during that period.

    Thanks for the headphones tip!

Hey this is a pretty good link: http://www.musicbyday.com/lennon-vs-mccartney-who-wrote-each-of-their-27-1-hits/517/

There's a troll in the comments section with a funny conspiracy theory about how George Martin was behind the Beatles greatness and that the Fab Four were just props.

I actually would like WMGGW but(like I Call Your Name & 909) Georges G solo is out of tune. He plays the same basic lick on USSR & is in tune there.

I forgot Here Comes The Sun.

Old Brown Shoe is one where their are tech glitches on the record. The overall quality of the track is not very good either. Have U heard the Anthology 3 Demo version?
