Because they are hell on earth. They are also inefficient and unsustainable and ugly and are made for cars and not people. I like cities where people can walk places or take the metro and the country or rural areas where there are farms and dirt roads and animals.
We are thinking differently. The suburbs as a way of life are only possible because of massive subsidies by the governments. So it is ironic that many people who live there say they are libertarians. Without the government roads and water lines which are so expensive that the property taxes do not cover them, the suburbs could not exist.

I couldn't agree more. Though it is obvious that the cities are much worse, that doesn't make the suburbs much better.

Here are some videos on the Strong Towns movement, which goes into depth on these problems:

In the unlikely case these videos get taken down, here are some backups:

Here is an additional video on how suburban environments negatively impact the youth:

Here is the Strong Towns website, which contains the docuмents that the author refers to in his Strong Towns series:

As Bishop Williamson has said many times, suburbia disconnects souls from reality much in the same way that the modern concrete jungles do. Though these videos do not touch on the spiritual harm of the suburban environment on souls, one who has the Faith can easily infer these things, especially when one listens to the facts presented here that outline the material problems of this environment.

Both the suburbs and cities are death traps and part of Babylon. Get out while you still can.
