    What the heck?

Is this what hard-pressed families are contributing to the resistance for?

The SSPX priests deserve a break from time to time!

    Give them a break already!

  • These aren't SSPX priests and they're not on a break - this is work.

They can do as they like, but not on my dollar.  Pontifical dinners...24hr hospitality rooms.  Grandiose ideas on other people's money.

    And they can't spell L-E-F-E-B-V-R-E.

  • What's wrong with a 24 hour hospitality room? Could you explain what exactly this is?

Is it a place for a priest to stay in an emergency at a moment's notice? (say, he's just been kicked out of his priory for joining the Resistance)

Sounds EXACTLY like what the Resistance funding SHOULD be going for!

And some things must be for priests only -- not everything can be completely democratic. Sometimes the priests need to get together and talk shop, without laymen getting in the way. There's nothing wrong with that.

  • The OP is ridiculous.

What is wrong with a group of priests getting together for a priests' meeting? Do the laymen ALWAYS have to have their say, to give their 2 cents worth, 100% of the time? What are we, congregationalists?

The laymen have their place, but sometimes we have to sit back and let the priests LEAD like they're supposed to.

A pontifical dinner is just a dinner with a bishop. It doesn't mean they're going to dine like kings! Give me a break.

Again, the 24-hour hospitality room sounds like something to take care of priests coming from out-of-town to attend the 25-year Consecration Anniversary. Why not take care of a priest who traveled to attend this Resistance gathering?

    Again, give me a break.

Some laymen are quick to be critical of priests, and too uppity in general. Such laymen are the perpetual cross of all priests, good and bad alike!

Laymen like you need to take YOUR DOLLAR and stick it where the sun don't shine!

    We don't need your money.

If you're not willing to PART WITH IT and trust the priests to spend it as they will, then KEEP IT for crying out loud!

You can't have it both ways. Either donate, or don't.

  • If you're really concerned; find a resistance priest you trust and donate through him directly. Let him decide what to do with the money.

And I wouldn't be that concerned about misspelling. I do it all the time!

  • Trusteeism rears it's head again.

Someone sounds upset that he donated his $10 and wasn't invited.   :baby:

Maybe you can ask Father Pfeiffer to refund your dollar.

  • Who designed the OLMC  poster?  Many of us can guess.  Hint:  He isn't a priest.  He lacks social skills, even in writing.  But so what?  Apparently, the events opened to laity are free.  No price is listed.  Most likely, the cost will be a voluntary donation.  Laity are to provide their own lodging for one night, and a few meals.  St. Athanasius is on the outskirts of the D.C. metro area.  Reasonably-priced accomodations are available.  In addition to motels, there are several American Youth Hostels, and campgrounds within range of public transport or less than an hour's drive.  PM me, "Frances for  campground info.

  • Apology time!  I should not have made the rude comment re: social skills.  It was uncalled for and devoid of charity.  Please, may I ask forgiveness for anyone I've offended, especially the creator of the advertisement?  If you are who I think, you are a tireless worker on behalf of the priests of OLMC.  Frrances.

    Indeed.
Stir up within Thy Church, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the Spirit with which blessed Josaphat, Thy Martyr and Bishop, was filled, when he laid down his life for his sheep: so that, through his intercession, we too may be moved and strengthen by the same Spir

  • I think it would be pretty expensive to have a dinner with the bishop "come one, come all".

That's a whole different kind of dinner. You'd have to have a potluck, serve something cheap like pancakes or spaghetti, but you'd STILL need quite a commitment in terms of facilities, equipment and manpower to feed 300+ people. Who is going to donate the rent for a hall to eat in? Someone has to prepare/serve, clean up, etc. and someone has to "host the event" and pay for the main supplies (plates, silverware, napkins, cups, beverages, garbage cans, toilet facilities, drink dispensers, coffee pots, tablecloths, condiments, and much more).

Is the Resistance that well-heeled? I doubt it.

Again, this person was way out of line being critical of this gathering.
