  • Fr. Stafki's suggestion box is theoretically anonymous.

    Aren't there security cameras in the vestibule?

    I hope that many Phoenicians will offer frank, yet polite, suggestions.

  • From what I've heard, Phoenix is a massive parish with hundreds of parishioners. Moreover, there are other Trad options nearby.

    Why isn't there a Resistance in Phoenix yet? My impression is that there is no Resistance, at least present tense. Whatever group is there must be small, dying, and/or unorganized.

    Fr. Pfeiffer occasionally goes to Phoenix, right? But that doesn't say anything. Fr. Pfeiffer will go (on a limited basis) to a location just for one stubborn family. I know that for a fact: The El Paso location only has 4 or 5 people. He comes to San Antonio twice a year for just one family.

    Want to say "thank you"?

    Every time we "resisted," Pablo was there. That presence was an insurmountable problem for us.

    There are also many flavors of options: FSSP, CMRI, and independent.

    I am aware of other solutions. Some families left Phoenix.

  • As far as Fr. Stafki's box, he did not specify that he was seeking anonymous feedback, but his format clearly lends itself to anonymous feedback.  I don't think that was an accident born of stupidity.

    I think there are a few possibilities:
    (1) that he knows things are so messed up that he is genuinely seeking input;
    (2) that he expects no critical feedback and, on receiving no critical feedback, hopes to be vindicated and to discredit/undercut the criticism expressed here;
    (3) that so few opinions will be submitted, the security system will allow easy identification of the critics;
    (4) other possibilities that I haven't considered.

  • My first DRAFT

    “This saying is hard, and who can hear it?”  John 6:61

    The new church was a project that was thrust upon us as a fait accompli. The usual group of insiders made all the decisions, design, made the announcement, and then the rest of us are pressured to pay for it. From the pulpit Fr. Wegner compared us to “renters” and insisted on the “justice” of paying interest on a loan of money from a priest, outright usury, a mortal sin.

    Suggestions:

    Listen: When you want our cooperation and our money, ask us. Don’t presume upon us. When we approach you, don’t tell us you are “busy.” Have time and respect and Christ-like love for us.

    Learn: When you don’t know about a subject that concerns us, listen, read, and learn about the subject.  Whether the matter is theological, scientific, or historical, there are many parishioners who have special knowledge about certain subjects. We are your resource, not your enemy.

    Respect: Especially, respect parents and your elders who have seen and suffered much more than you.  When parents have questions and concerns about school matters, don’t brush us off. No more “We’ll talk about that later” when parents express concerns at meetings, so you can separate, ridicule, and/or “kill the messenger.”  Don’t disrespect us with school plays penned by perverts and massage parlor certificates at the St. Joseph Table benefit. Instead of a fancy ball field and locker room, how about a science lab? Better pay for more qualified teachers? If you are really in the right, you can articulate publicly why you are right and you don’t have to disparage or hide from parents’ concerns. If you are wrong, admit it and fix it.

    Root out prideful clericalism (Mark 9:34): Despots do not belong around or in charge of people. On point–Fr. Beck who brought us Oscar Wilde and who has no “people skills.”

    Protect: When parents and children warn of dangers, don’t ignore us. Don’t kill the messenger. When a pervert mutilates his genitals and is thrown out of the seminary, don’t let that pervert have access to our children in summer camps and the altar society. When a child warns that he was whipped while naked, report him to the police. Don’t assume the child simply wants to avoid going to the SSPX summer camp.  When parents and teachers warn about a pornographic author and his behavior in the classroom, fire the perpetrator, not the messenger. When priests have been malfeasant enablers of perverts, don’t put such priests in proximity to children. Put them cloistered in a monastery—including Sloniker’s enabler, Fr. Crane.

    Be honest: Don’t lie to us, not even with mental reservations. Don’t treat us like morons or gullible cultists. We actually parse, understand, and archive video and print evidence. Don’t take donations earmarked for stained glass windows and then tell us you have no money for stained glass windows. Don’t tell us that there will be no accommodation with an unconverted Vatican as at the start of the first Rosary crusade, while you are actually negotiating the accommodation. Don’t use Our Blessed Mother as cover for your schemes with Rome.  The docuмentary evidence is clear that Bp. Fellay is as untrustworthy as he is fratricidal.

    Preach in and out of season (2 Timothy 4:2): Instead of airy-fairy rambling sermons, preach against errors, sins, and the enemies of all mankind. There is nothing “prudent” about submitting to the fables of the most organized opposition to Jesus Christ (Titus 1:14). “Saint of the Sanhedrin”? Why is a heretic, a Zionist, in a trusted position of managing Jaidhoff-Rothschild-Gutmann money for the SSPX? http://mauricepinay.blogspot.com/2013/07/the-file-on-maximilian-krah.html

    Confessions:  In a parish that has 5 priests in residence, it is a travesty that there are dozens of disappointed penitents turned away from confession every Sunday. Your food is prepared, your roof and bed are provided, and you have an enormous system of support and micromanagers at “the home office,” so do what it takes to make time for confession. Stay in the confessional before, through, and after Mass. Have the celebrant distribute communion alone. Get up early. Stay up late. Give up your sports. Do whatever it takes to provide the sacraments. Today's new schedule is a step in the right direction, but not enough.

    Reinvigorate community life:  There have been numerous breaches of trust that will not be repaired quickly or easily. Pot lucks, Sunday barbeques, participatory discussions, a community garden, even poker or bingo nights might be helpful in patiently and lovingly reestablishing our community life.
