The parents used to own or run a bar or restaurant. Knowing the area, there would have been many unsavory types. The parents said they used to have all the kids work there. (met them once at a dinner). My theory is there is a family tradition of taking in misfits, offering down-home Kentucky hospitality to shady folks in hopes of saving them.
Some years ago, the Pfieffers used their property as a home for priests in trouble. One priest in trouble was Fr. D. Fr. D, a NO priest, worked in SSPX Cincinnati chapel for many years. This was an historic troubled, "hot spot" location for a variety of reasons.
Many bad things happened under Fr. D's care. There were many complaints about his conduct made over years, investigated by SSPX. He had a group of little group of fierce followers, as these types usually do--morally compromised themselves, but in positions of authority, given special favors.
Are they now involved in the resistance?
The Cincinnati SSPX chapel had a long history of problems and infighting, crossover from the neighboring SV chapels and Indults. Fr. D did not make things better for SSPX; in fact a number of his Masses were appalling and bizarre. (even deliberately stepping on the feet of servers, making them almost drop the cruet, choosing people who had no business singing at Mass because they were horrible singers, many other strange behaviors with the Mass)
I saw his MC shoving a mother of 10 into a wall and yelling in her face, and nobody batted an eye. Just one small example of continual inappropriate behavior. Fr. D's behavior became more and more menacing and borderline abusive. He is a clever man, with a Ph.D in Psychology, but has caused distress wherever he has been assigned. The SSPX took a long time before getting rid of him,
So now I hear he's back at the Farm, possibly even teaching at that seminary?
If so, it pretty much explains a lot of the trouble we are reading about with the characters in Boston. This is another bad apple among bad apples of the region. He talks pretty much the way pablo writes, when he's out of control. I feel really sorry for anyone who trusts him, and the Pfieffer family obviously does. I suspect that he is a key influence in the imbalanced behavior coming out of the farm.
