  • If you could say your location, OP, maybe somebody nearby could be of some help.

  • So sorry prayers for you this is a very difficult thing not knowing. Sometimes God is testing our loyalties to Him and what He wants is for us to prove that we have complete and total dependence on Him alone.

Book of Job is a great reference for this and a comforting read also.

My own family was in a similar situation years ago when the house we were renting was sold while we were still living there..we were unable to find a place to relocate because we have a large family and Apartment Complexes (which was all we could afford and house rentals were scarce) refused to rent to us because fire codes limit household size. At the the last minute we found a small house in a low income community that the homeowners accidentally posted too early before they had fixed everything, so we had to move in AS IS and it was in MAJOR DISREPAIR. We went from homeless to living in a one bathroom house where the floor was falling in and even the door was missing. The house reeked of rotting food because the people renting before were ‘squatters’ who had unfortunately wrecked the place.
For months we worked with the owners and slowly repaired everything until it was a more suitable place for living.
Within a year of renting there the owners offered us another house of theirs that was larger and more suited to the size of our family..years after renting the bigger house, we bought it from them for an extremely good deal.

I could not have seen the blessings down the road while I poured tears that day after finding out that we really had become  homeless

I will offer my Rosary for you today

  • 1) How much time do you have before you are homeless?

    2) Are you also jobless?

    3) How much money do you need to save your situation?

    4) What is the cause of your situation?

  • My faith is being severely tested. Am on verge of eviction, must pay for clean out of 23 years in same place, will lose job if can't keep up peak performance, marginal healthave both physical and emotional, age 60ish, female, no friends since kicked out of chapel in 2014, no money...quite alone.  Too upset to pray, I try, but can't concentrate.  Too embarrassed to post name.
    You have a friend here.

Thank you for the Rosary and encouragement.
Maybe it's Our Lord's way of telling me to move ahead.

    1) Feb. 28
    2) Have job through June 30.
    3) Not sure.  Getting estimates tomorrow.  I no longer wish to continue living in current place.
    4) Corrupt slum lord wants to make large profit from sale of building. Gentrification, out with working class, in with young, wealthy, lbgtq artsy types.  Don't care what becomes of less affluent, elderly, families with kids, infirm, those who are pro straight and pro Christian morality.  Long-term tenants pay much less rent, so we get bullied out.  Little affordable housing available, am not eligible for any type of assistance other than maybe a non-city sponsored soup kitchen or food pantry.

  • This helped me many years ago and has never ceased helping - trust in God's Providence may not always come easy, but with practice it does come. Bank on it.

Pray at least this little prayer throughout the day as often as you can every day. If you do this, I think you will come to find out how well it works. I myself say it everyday as often as I remember and have done so for the last 8 or 9 years, because that's how long it has worked - and it works in a way that is most often all but incomprehensible.

"Either free me from poverty, or make it so pleasant for me that I would not exchange it for all the wealth in the world."

Here is a link to a post that will help you along, at least it helped me.

  • I'm going to go out on a limb and presume there is not more than one 60ish female from Queens on CathInfo...

Is quitting your job and living with the people you care for on the weekend an option?
Perhaps having multiple adults in the same home would qualify you for some type of assistance.

If leaving your current residence is due to pressure with no binding demand that you pay more or leave, consider holding out until you at least have a plan of where to go.

  • I often think and wonder about Frances (of the dancing banana). I pray she is ok. She was a great and interesting poster. Last active August 01, 2017

  • I know you are embarrassed to share your name, but I barely know anyone in tradition except a handful of the faithful here and there who have helped me along the way. So if you send me a message with your details it would be like you were anonymous. I am with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, we can maybe help you get through the rough patch so you don’t end up homeless. Others here seem willing to help you too. Send me a message. I will be praying for you. God bless.

I would post anonymously, but I don’t know if any other way of connecting.

If  the OP is the member you have in mind, could a fund for CI members to contribute to be opened?
