  • I enrolled in the scapular about four years ago.
I know it's not a " passport to heaven" but I'm just wondering what it does to grant us salvation.

A priest heard in an exorcism once , " take off that brown habit, that takes so many from us, those who wear it always die holy"

I'm just wondering if it gives us an increase of graces?

Does anyone have any scapular stories ?

  • The Brown Scapular

    A Safeguard…Physical and Spiritual

On the battlefield in France, for example, the bullet which would have killed a soldier is deflected by his scapular and leaves not even a bruise on his skin.

In Holland a Carmelite Monk throws his scapular upon surging flood waters which threaten to destroy an entire village and immediately the torrent recedes.

During a terrible draught in Spain, the holy habit of Carmel is carried in procession and the heavens previously closed up begin to shower plentiful rains.

Elsewhere, pestilence is subdued, battles won, fires extinguished, the blind regain their sight, and the crippled are cured all through the Scapular and the invocation of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

  • If you wear the scapular, you will receive all the graces necessary for salvation at the hour of death.

There once was a man who decided to commit ѕυιcιdє and he went to a bridge near his home and leaped into the waters below expecting to be dragged under and drowned. He began to float and when he looked up, he saw his scapular keeping him afloat and he tore it off and tossed it on the river bank and died.

Another is a group soldiers who were captured and sentinced to death. A priest went to them to hear their confessions but all of them started to blaspheme and scream at the priest to leave. He told them he would leave if they all put on scapulars. They did except the last man, subsequently all of them begged to see a priest when the barrels of the rifles were pointed at them, the last man wanted a scapular but refused to see a priest. They were all shot and when they made sure the bodies were dead they noticed the last man was missing his scapular. A day later a patrol found it on the other side of the wall behind the fort.

I dont know if these stories are exact but its been awhile since I've heard them. But all the main parts are there

Once upon a time, let's just say that my life left something to be desired, yet I continued to wear the Brown Scapular, as I have for many years.

One morning I woke up, and at that time, I slept shirtless as a matter of comfort.  My scapular was missing!  I said to myself "where is it, where is it?", and then I found it elsewhere on the bed.  It had come off during the night.

I have to suspect that Our Lord was telling me, "you know, I can take that scapular off of you anytime I want, get right with Me and you'll have nothing to fear --- but what if you had died in your sleep last night?".
