One month silent retreat.  No technology. No tv. No cell phone.

Just me, Jesus and Our Lady.

  • And who are you?
"Be not therefore solicitous for tomorrow; for the morrow will be solicitous for itself. Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof." [Matt. 6:34]

"In all thy works remember thy last end, and thou shalt never sin." [Ecclus. 7:40]

"A holy man continueth in wisdom as the sun: but a fool is changed as the moon." [Ecclus. 27:12]

  •  Nice!  The closest I’ve come to that was two weeks of solo car camping in the Maine Wilderness Area, 1998.  The radio in my old Chevette had died the death, so my only technology was a cheap crank-powered shortwave/weather receiver from Radio Shack, unless you counted a weapon.  Both were for personal safety.  Getting caught in a microburst or lightning storm wouldn’t be good.  I also didn’t want a close encounter with a bear, mountain cougar, copperhead, or timber rattler.  I often find I pray and meditate best while doing an activity like chopping wood, building an awning frame, nursing along a campfire, carving or doing some sort of arts and crafts.  It’s better for my focus than just sitting or kneeling still in one place for a long time.

  • And who are you?
I have my own theory about who it is. Have a stab at it.
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.
