  • Is it a sin for women to receive communion without a covered head?

Is it a sin for a priest to give communion to a woman without a covered head?

Is it a sin for a priest to give communion to a woman dressed immodestly?

  • I believe there are instances when a priest is obligated to deny communion for immodest dress.  Not sure about the other questions.

Of course it's a sin. Is it a mortal sin? That is more the question.

  • I have seen a priest I respect well make exceptions for uncovered hair and imperfect dress (never anything totally scandalous, things that would be "dressed up" for NO).

He once mentioned in a sermon that someone's first time should be a welcoming experience, and we can sort out the details later. He also urged us to make sure that when we invited people they knew what to expect. The reasoning seemed to be that a lot of people flat out don't know, so we need to teach them, not reject them.

Every time I've seen a woman with uncovered hair receive, it was a first-timer who was back the next week with a veil. I think he probably spoke with them after Mass.

  • The issue is attending Mass without a veil not just for Communion right?

That is the way that our priest does it too

I would think so, but it would be more likely for her to be denied Communion than escorted out the back door.

  • It's funny the first (trad) Mass I went to, I was later (when I stopped in the chapel office that week to find out more info) I was reprimanded for nursing and heard about the "temptations" of the priest but nothing was said to me about my jeans or not wearing a veil.  A woman can wear men's clothing at Mass but don't let her nurse!

Chapels should keep shawls and veils in back for women who are not dressed appropriately.

Wow! I've seen women get up and go nurse their children in the cry room. I do hope they've never been reprimanded. Do they want you to just not feed the baby, or leave Mass and go sit in the car?

    No.

    No.

Only if the immodesty is scandalous.

St Paul taught that women should cover their heads at all times in church and they should obey the instruction.  They're not in a state of sin if they don't, though.

I have no idea. I stopped by the church office on a weekday for more info and the lady started going on about it. I wasn't in the cry room though.
