A family member of mine has their first communion at a NO church. I do not plan on going, is it fine to go to the after party for lunch?
Have nothing whatsoever to do with the NO. This includes any and all celebrations having anything to do with the NO. While it is understood that it is not always possible for certain people to avoid such things, if you can avoid it, do so, you will not regret it.

Pharasees condemned Jesus for sharing a meal with sinners.
This is different. There is a risk that going gives credence to the NO. I would like to see someone like Lad respond with logic and reason.

Pharasees condemned Jesus for sharing a meal with sinners.

Pharisees, not Pharasees. The Pharisees were all about appearances and cooties, not about genuine good and Truth.

Jesus shared a meal with sinners such that they might amend their ways and sin no more, not that their sin was just peachy keen with Him. Big difference.
