  • One of the advantages of being good-sized is that they studiously ignore you as you walk by.

It's very depressing because it shows that a satanic desecration of religious symbols is far more popular than the symbols themselves.

  • What percentage of those of any race with a rosary hanging from their rear-view mirrors would you guess actually know how to pray it properly? I have no affinity for "cultural Catholics."

We're not talking about a rosary used for any sort of good spiritual purpose, even if only symbolically.  We're talking about sacrilegious display of religious symbols as part of an identity that embraces wickedness as a way of life.

I agree with that. I don't believe in a rosary being displayed on a mirror or around a neck. A rosary is for praying and nothing else.

That hasn't been my observation. Many people who wear the rosary wear it as a kind of profession of faith. They want to tell the world that they are Catholic. St Louis de Montford wrote that it was very common for the Spanish people to wear the rosary around their necks. St Dominic placed the rosary around the necks of the posessed be the devil when he was excorzing them. And the Enchirodon of indulgences offers a partial indulgence for wearing a rosary.

  • It's a gang and "bling" thing. Notice that they seldom wear plain rosaries, they are always shiny, sparkly attention-getters.  Most of those who wear them can't even say a Hail Mary, or even know what they are supposed to be used for.

  • I've seen a wigger female cashier wearing one at the local gas station.

they don't wear it because they are Catholic.

  • When I was a kid, the nuns said it was disrespectful to wear the rosary around your neck like Jєωelry, They said that unless it was in use, it belonged in your pocket, and the scapular was for your neck, but underneath the clothing where it didn't show. For some reason it really bugs me to see people wearing a rosary, or a scapular outside of their clothing. (But I haven't seen a scapular outside of a Trad Mass in years)

  • A few years ago, I was at a livestock event and I guess my scapular strings were showing (I always wear it under my garments).  A girl about my age told me that she liked my scapular, and pulled hers out too.  I was delighted and talked to her a bit, that I go to the Latin Mass, and how beautiful it is.  She seemed very interested and so I gave her some information on a traditional church somewhat in her area.

I wonder if she went, if her parents allowed it.

  • To all you country folks!  Were the rosaries red?  The boys belong to the Bloods.  Blue?  MS-13, Red, yellow, black?  Latin Kings...and so forth.  These are gang identification that cannot be forbidden in prison or by law enforcement officials, same as residents of Guantanamo Bay cannot be deprived of Korans and prayer rugs.  Rosaries are banned in my workplace along with all other gang-associated attire, manner of wearing clothes, Jєωelry, etc.  Some Spanish gangs now wear scapulars on the outside, esp. O.L. of Guadalupe.  It used to be different colored "farmer-scarves" worn in various ways, but this led to outright riots in prison.  That is also the origin of the rapper/hip-hop look, gangsters in jail.  The baggy pants half-off, rear and boxers showing, crotch at the knees, one leg rolled up to just below the knee, the unlaced Timberland work boots, caps on sideways and backwards, sports logos of different teams, hand signals, hairstyles...all the language of gangs so that they can communicate in prison and on the streets.  They are no longer limited to the big cities, but have infiltrated to suburban and rural America.
Parents, do not allow your child to adopt a new "cool" style.  It might not be a harmless fad.  People have paid with their lives after unwittingly sending the wrong message in gang territory.  Before dismissing me as a paranoid weirdo, check out with your local police if what I've said is true.  Learn what gangs operate in your neighborhood and take precaution.
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.
