My two cats are seeing something I cannot see... They keep looking up at the ceiling and up walls, and they hold their gaze at whatever they are viewing. It's not flying bugs either. My only rational explanation is they might hear something on the roof or possibly in the attic such as squirrels or birds, but I live in an apt and I cannot hear anything. I do NOT believe in ghosts, and it's heretical to believe in such nonsense, therefore, I certainly rule that out; but could cats possibly see or detect angels or, God forbid, evil spirits present in a house?

My cats act in the same way. They get excited for no reason at all. They also
stare at walls causing me worry that something is there, and I do not see
nor feel anything.
I notice that dogs act in the same way.

One of the most terrifying things in the world is when the dog growls and snarls in the middle of the night. Especially when I'm home alone! I'm home alone right now and talking about it is making me jumpy.

I love it how dark it gets in the country, especially when it rains, and then you go the barn and the cats are up in the rafters.

Sprinkle Holy water on them and back-off on their daily dosage of catnip.

They should improve.

What is the difference between ghosts and spirits? To me they are the same thing. And I DO believe in them.

Cats are such interesting creatures. Our cats have always predicted that it is going to rain. If they wash right over the top of their ears, not just their face, it is a sure sign there will be rain within a day or so.

It's not heresy. There are books of true Catholic ghost stories.

Yes, thank you, I already thought about the Holy water and blessing rooms and cats with it, but I'm all out right now. I need to make a trip to the chapel.

Ghosts are spiritual entities (that do NOT exist) coming from dead people who roam this world. However, in believing this, you are stating a person does not necessarily go to Heaven, purgatory before entering Heaven, or hell. That is HERESY!!!

Spirits (demonic) are fallen angels who have existed before the creation of man. They certainly can dwell on earth when attempting to corrupt man and bring about evil. They come here by serving Satan.

Angels are Holy beings serving God, and they can also dwell on earth through visitation by serving the Lord and helping bring about His plans.

Or they are souls from Heaven, Hell, or Purgatory.

Isn't there a story of a damned soul returning to tell someone not to bother praying for him?

Also, I remember reading about a soul returning to ask someone to burn a piece of paper with his confession notes written on.

There have been thousands of reports of spirits returning from Purgatory to their families and friends. Read the book Purgatory ( Fr FX Schouppe, SJ). There are many accounts related there.

The words spirit and ghost are virtually interchangeable. As in "Sanctus Spiritus" is translated "Holy Ghost", and the saying "he gave up the ghost" meaning he died.

Where on earth are you getting this idea about heresy?
