Moving to Start [New]
« on: April 01, 2026, 05:15:59 PM »
I have never enjoyed living in Georgia, I'll be moving once I'm 18. I'm excited, this isn't for a few more months, I have been brainstorming moving since this time last year. After searching the entire United States I have gone down to 4 options, and the towns surrounding, Chicago, Illinois; Des Moines, Iowa; Holland, Michigan or; St Marys, Kansas. I am considering moving overseas, I am fluent in French and semi-fluent in Italian which opens a lot of opportunities for me. Tunisia, South-Eastern France, Sicily, all look like fine choices. As fine as can be in 2026. However obtaining a passport is going to be a lot of financial strain on me at the moment. If I don't get it now I'll have to wait before I move anyways. I don't mind starting out here in the United States, to build up something small in Monopoly Money before moving away. Especially in the nicer places aformentioned. Yes, I know about the boy problem in Chicago. Ratchet folk of both sexes. I don't mind. It is way better than Atlanta. In Chicago, they have their own part in the city, the whites and asians are at least 30 minutes away from all of that. Here in Atlanta they do not have their own playground. Regardless I have never been intimidated by a nappy headed ho in my life. "Thug" :laugh2:

With that being said, I have no friends to plan a move with, so I will likely be living with someone I don't know yet or by myself in a smaller situation like I am now. I am not asking for advice as things have changed hugely since even 5 years ago. It would be useless. I am asking you, where have I not considered? Which would be the place for me, out of the options I've chosen?

P.S. St Marys is on this list only because it's Catholic. I haven't tried settling down in a calm place, I am accustomed to city life, I am not familiar with the idea of small towns. It's rare I'd move there but it is on my mind for the future.

I did not mean to post anonymous, you don't have to be if you don't want to.

I’m a bit confused. If a $165 passport would cause “a lot of financial strain” on you, how do you propose to move to another area of the country, let alone a foreign country?

So you are aware, most countries will only accept newcomers if they marry a person in that country, or qualify for a student/work visa. Work visas are typically only given to those with high-end occupations like doctors, lawyers, etc.

Why overthink? If young and free and determined, hit road and let God/fate guide you.
