I am looking for movie recommendations. I like watching movies during my free time at nights before I go to bed, but it is hard finding good movies.
My favorite movies are Andrei Rublev and the Passion of Joan of Arc. Rublev was directed by a Russian and is about a Russian "Orthodox" painter, directed by a Russian Andrei Tarkovsky and the Passion is about the trial of the saint, directed by a Lutheran, Carl Dreyer. There is one movie I haven't seen but want to see and that is Monsieur Vincent which I have heard is the best Catholic movie ever made.
I am looking for recommendations of good movies that may or may not be Catholic, as long as they are not sinful to watch.

I also love the films of Yasujiro Ozu. All of them, but especially Tokyo Story, Late Spring, and Early Summer.

My favorite movies are Andrei Rublev…. Rublev was directed by … Andrei Tarkovsky …
If you can sit patiently through this movie and actually enjoy it, my hat is off to you. You are well on your way to earning a martyr's crown.
Do get Monsieur Vincent—but not the dubbed version! There's nothing like it. Amazon has got it.

This is a DECENT list of movies. There are some bombs, however, like the "Faustina" movie, and the Dorothy Day story, Schindler's List, and Sister Act. Ugh. But, it's a novus ordo list, so keep that in mind.
There are a good many excellent films on this list, though.

The Bicycle Thief.
-
St. Teresa of Avila (Spanish with English Subtitles by Ignatius Press) and A Man for All Seasons with Paul Scofield.
-
The Scarlet and the Black with Gregory Peck
Viva Cristo Rey
-
The Song of Bernadette Miracle of our Lady of Fatima.
I used to love watching these movies as a child.

I'm surprised even the Novus Ordo would approve of "Sister act". That movie is pure blasphemy. Whoopi Goldberg has NO love for the Catholic Church, I can tell you that, and it shows in all her movies.
Does the Novus Ordo, in addition to all its other insanities and stupidities, fail to tell the difference between "laughing with you" and "laughing at you"? They are not laughing WITH the Catholic Church in that movie -- it's a complete blasphemous mockery.

It is abridged, but fine for a film. Nothing beats the play.

This movie was a blatant attack on the Catholic Church by Hollywood jews.
And Gregory Peck did their bidding.
In the scene depicted above, the priest doesn't care if his friend dies without Baptism. (There are many ways to Heaven).

Indeed! As my dear husband would say in his quaint way: You've discovered the hot water.
