  • Are there any circuмstances under which a spouse may legitimately deny the other spouse the marital debt?

I have head it said that in case of illness, the ill spouse may "ask" for the debt to be postponed, but can a spouse ever simply say "no," regardless of what the other wishes?

  • Seriously?  :laugh1:

Oh yeah you have to pony up.

But I've found that, in general, a debt is more willingly paid when the collector isn't incessantly banging on the door, for one.

And sometimes one may really want to PAY the debt, but the banker isn't in. Maybe he's watching football, or playing football, or anywhere but at the bank.
