  • At daily  mass today was a reading from Isaiah , it talked about,
"the day of the lord " the day of the slaughter".

it said that during the day of the lord , that the sun will be seven times brighter than normal and the moon will shine as bright as the sun.

I was always taught the day of the.lord was Christ's immediate return to judge the dead and living???

I assume you mean the Novus Ordo readings for today? Isaias 30:19-21; 23-26?

    Here's Haydock's notes on 30:26:
    Quote
Sevenfold. Exceedingly great, equal to the light of 49 days. (Calmet) The fame of Ezechias spread widely. His kingdom was a figure of that of Christ, when this was more perfectly realized, the preaching of the gospel having dispelled the darkness of error. (Calmet) He alludes to the day of judgment. (St. Jerome) (Menochius)

    Venerable Bede:

    Quote
But when there will be a new heaven and a new earth after the judgment—which is not one heaven and earth replacing another but these very same ones which will shine forth, having been renewed by fire and glorified by the power of the resurrection—then, as Isaiah predicts, “The light of the moon will be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun will be sevenfold, as the light of seven days.” - "The Reckoning of Time 6.70"

Yes, the passage is talking about the return of Christ at the end of time. His Light will outshine any created light, hence why it is stated at a sevenfold magnitude of that of the sun. According to Fr. Kramer, the number 7 is the most perfect number, as it is the "number of completion". In this sense, the light of the Sun of Justice (Christ) will be a sevenfold magnitude because it shows forth the completion of the sixth age and the ushering in the seventh of the perfected creation and the new Jerusalem, where the saints will dwell before the Lamb and God will be their light.

The moon typifies the Church, the lesser luminary, which will shine with the force of the Sun of Justice in the Church Triumphant.
"Be not therefore solicitous for tomorrow; for the morrow will be solicitous for itself. Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof." [Matt. 6:34]

"In all thy works remember thy last end, and thou shalt never sin." [Ecclus. 7:40]

"A holy man continueth in wisdom as the sun: but a fool is changed as the moon." [Ecclus. 27:12]

  • To the OP --

You really need to leave the Novus Ordo behind. Completely. Even if that means monthly instead of daily Mass, that is what God wants for you.

It is not humility you are practicing, but PRIDE.

You are NOT stronger than the millions of souls who have lost the Faith since Vatican II. A new religion was started there, which has SOME Catholic trappings, but a lot that is protestant and man-made. It is not of God. They even blasphemously called it "a second pentecost".

Jesus Christ told us to judge a tree by its fruits. This is not 1975 when we "just don't know". We have 52 years of history to look back on. The verdict is in: the fruit is ROTTEN, fetid, putrifying.

Every possible metric you could look at condemns the Conciliar religion with its Novus Ordo Missae: vocations, fervor, morality, Mass attendance, knowledge of the Faith -- all has gone done about 90% since Vatican II. And it's not just "the modern world" to blame, because you don't have that kind of drop in the world of Tradition.

Modern Catholics don't know their Faith. They don't believe in purgatory. They think most/all go to heaven. They downplay the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Rosary. Virtually all of them dress like moderns (immodestly) and live worldly lives. Confession to a priest is a thing of the past. Penance, going without meat or "giving things up", as well as all corporal mortification, is no longer practiced. Virtually all couples practice artificial birth control. They have become de-facto protestants.

  • To the O.P.

Where do you live? Maybe we could help you find a traditional Catholic chapel/Mass to attend.
