I have to echo others on the low carbohydrate lifestyle. NOBODY should eat processed carbohydrates. Period.
Like you I have horrible problems with food cravings which disappeared once I cut grains/starches, legumes, and sugars out of my diet.
What am I eating? Animal proteins (beef, poultry, pork, and fish), high fat dairy (butter, cream, and full fat cheeses), and tons of green veggies. My metabolism is so slow (menopause) that I have to keep my carb intakes pretty low. The result? No bloating, no painful gut, facial rash diappeared, low body temps gone, and tons of energy. Also, I am to the point where I don't always crave a sweet in the evening.
I'd say that 60% volume of my diet is vegetable but 50% calories is fat. I'm losing weight and feel terrific. My BP is always in the 110/60 range and my blood counts are good.
I don't follow Atkins because it's too much like a diet rather than a lifestyle. I like Stella Style which promotes eating your favorites recipes prepared low carb.
FYI--You cannot eat 5,000 calories a day on low carb and lose weight. Just sayin.....
