I’ve seen a young indult priest run out the front door immediately after the Asperges me, to put a stop to what was called the brew’n cycle, a wheeled contraption powered by 12 pedaling persons on bar stools, a wooden bar in the middle that served unlimited beer for a 40 minute session. It was steered by a truck steering wheel from up front. It also featured very loud, raunchy music that blared from four loudspeakers along the canopied top. It came from a local microbrewery about three blocks away. It made about three rounds in the 40 minutes, passing in front of the church, then alongside to (illegally) cut through the parking lot. With each round, it got louder as the people became more intoxicated. Sometimes, depending upon who was at the steering wheel, they’d stop right outside for the purpose of annoying those in Mass. The matter ended up in court. The microbrewery was not permitted to play music along the block where the church was located, and was told the parking lot was private property, not a turn-around. They still entered it a few times and were issued pricey tickets.
I’ve also seen numerous people thrown out of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in NYC for highly inappropriate conduct of all sorts, from plain disrespect to the bizarre.
