Compulsive Liars, why do they prey on trad Catholics?

I wish we could steer clear of the "trad" Catholic designation. How about true Catholic, or, more simply, just plain old "Catholic"?

Strictly speaking, you're right. But it doesn't work that way.

Try calling yourself "Christian" and see if people don't assume you're Protestant.

It's sad, but true, that often times a cuckoo takes over the nest and you are basically forced to leave, albeit unjustly.

Words mean things. The purpose of language is to convey ideas. Calling ourselves "trad Catholics" conveys a specific, real meaning (we adhere to Catholicism as it was always practiced, we believe in traditional morality, pray the Rosary, go to Confession, etc.)

Saying "Catholic" with no modifiers wouldn't get the job done, unfortunately.

Catholic Answers is a Catholic forum. You are just a Catholic. So why not go there? Because you'd be banned within minutes if you even emphasize Catholic Tradition too much in a positive manner (nevermind being truly combative!)

Is CathInfo different from Catholic Answers? Of course. Thus is the Trad Catholic different from your average "Catholic".

Sorry, I  forgot to check the box. I did not mean to post anonymously. And I don't really want to hijack the thread.

Matthew, a lot of what you say is true, but I think you misunderstood a bit where I was coming from. I wasn't referring to life out in the world at large where it's true that the lumping of all sides into the term Catholic would tend to obscure meanings.
I was specifically talking about discussion in forums like this where everybody knows what sides have been drawn. Conceding to the opposition that we are a small group (which we are) composed of newly morphed animals needing a new name seems to be yielding on an important principle: that the Church in the past, and the present, and the future is always the same. Thus the Novus Ordo has stolen the buildings, and to an extent, the generalized term, Catholic, and we can't presently do much about the buildings, but I'll not be giving them the use of the word.  Those that keep the Faith are Catholic, those that don't, are not.  I'm not going to give them any satisfaction by moving away and figuring out a new name for myself in order to be understood.

That being said I believe you are making a good point as regards communications in general.  We are just looking at the same problem from different angles.

It is said that in Purgatory the place of the liars is that closest to Hell.
