I feel bad bringing this up, but I'm starting to be skeptical that anyone can have this degree of bad luck. It's one thing after another. Either he is under some kind of curse, or God is testing him to the same heroic degree He tested Job thousands of years ago.
There's either some funny business going on, or Brogan is an actual modern day Job.
I feel bad doubting him publicly, but I really don't know him personally. Maybe he's making up a lot of it in order to get free money? I'm not saying that's definitely the case, but you have to admit it's possible. Just be careful. There have been scammers and compulsive liars on Catholic forums over the years, even in the small circle of tradition.

  • "Pray for me because I despise being in the hospital. "

And this ^ is what he wants us to pray for???  Sorry my time is more valuable than that.  I'd have thought he would ask for prayers for a favorable outcome, his family, God's mercy etc.
He should be thankful he's in a country with a hospital that will let him stay a month just to get IV antibiotics.

I looked him up but couldn't find much on him but he said there are musicians on his family's side. And he said his sister is a nun which added up when I found her profile on FB. And his picture on hers is the same as the GoFundMe profile. I'd say he's a real person and his story seems to add up. https://www.facebook.com/mary.cowan.77

A hospital, by its very nature, is usually somewhere you'd rather not be.  I don't know his circuмstances or his temperament, and I am content to take his lament at face value, and assume it comes from a good place.

Of course he's a real person. No doubt about that. But when someone's life is a living soap opera, that's usually a red flag. I've experienced several people like that before. I would advise caution, nothing more. By the way, it's easy to imagine a person keeping their story straight on Cathinfo, Facebook, and Gofundme. It could be copy paste.

I'm skeptical too, but thought I was the only one.

  • GoFundMe  has rigorous ways of verifying the person in need. Receipts have to be submitted, I think. GOFUNDME is probably the place where fraudsters target constantly. GOFUNDME could be alerted so they could investigate ASAP.  If he's a fraud, everyone will get their money back.
He joined in fall 2024  asking right away for support. A bit suspicious. How about him sending a selfie on Cathinfo  with his IV stuck in his arm, in a hospital room, with his passport on his lap. With today's TIME STAMP. He's got more time than money.
    Get well soon Br.

  • Smelled like a scam from the start. Not buying it.

  • I understand that charity begins at home, but he isn't really one of us. He is in Steubenville, OH. Not exactly a mecca of SSPX or any other traditional organization. He seems to be on cathinfo for one purpose. All about the benjamins, as they say. Does he really care about tradition or the trads who populate cathinfo? Where was he 6 months ago? It might seem harsh, but the more I think about it...
Even if he's asking for money to support his family, he's still here only to ask for money. He sees us as a cash cow.

  • If he's legit, then Job himself needs to kneel before the real victim soul.

  • I've always found it very difficult to get impassioned about someone I don't know personally or at least indirectly as the parent of a friend for example. I don't participate in these long distance forum prayer requests and would never ask for one either if I were in need. To me it seems strange to ask my children to pray for someone I heard about on an Internet forum.

We do however pray for the repose of the souls of Bishop Tissier de Mallerais and Jean-Marie le Pen because we knew them as public figures.

Even before my conversion, as a liberal I never gave to charities for Africa either as I could never 'feel their pain, but would gladly help out a homeless person in my town.

Very generous of the hospital to "let" him stay for a month. I'm sure the bill totaling probably 10s of thousands of dollars afterwards will be very generous as well

That's not what hospitals do. They send you home with a stent in your arm and if you're lucky a Home Health Care RN visits for infusions. If unlucky, they tell you to DIY or have a family member do it. Not buying this story. Then after the first week, you have to go in for the infusions.

I second this. I know someone personally who was on IV antibiotics. They were not administered during an extended hospital inpatient stay.
You do realize how expensive it is to stay in the hospital for even one day, right? They're not running a motel.
