  • Is this week going to be just like last week with fasting and abstinence on the vigil, but we can eat meat on the feast day on Friday?

No fasting nor abstinence on Thursday. Friday is a feast day and is like a Sunday.
For what doth it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and suffer the loss of his own soul? Or what exchange shall a man give for his soul?

Is the lack of vigil abstinence because of the octave? Sounds like we get to have our cake and eat it too this week.

Not infallible, but it's a useful calendar if you don't have one.

  • The bulletins of Bishop Dolan's St. Gertrude The Great in West Chester, Ohio and of CMRI Mount St. Michael's in Spokane, Washington both say the abstinence is dispensed on Friday January 1, 2021.

Fear of judgment from pharasaical trads? Just an idea.
