    • I remember this KJV prot "pastor" preaching on a part of the Bible translated as "He that pisseth against the wall" to refer to males. I was thinking about this and wondered if peeing while sitting down is a sin of effeminacy.

    The Douay Rheims uses the same language to describe males in several passages dealing with battle accounts.  Leads me to wonder if many of those accounts were partially written by soldiers.  Kinda seems like a soldier's way of describing things

    • It's not the Douay Rheims fault though -- remember, that is an absolutely SLAVISH, accurate translation of the Vulgate. Here is that passage in the Vulgate:

    1 Samuel chapter 25:
    [22] Haec faciat Deus inimicis David, et haec addat, si reliquero de omnibus quae ad ipsum pertinent usque mane, mingentem ad parietem.


    mingo, mingare is "to urinate"
    ad parietem is "against the wall"

    • I am assuming that "piss" in 17th-century English was a purely innocuous word, unlike today when it is seen by many as being slightly vulgar.

    As far as sitting down, I might do it, if it's in the middle of the night, and if I'm awoken by the urge but too sleepy to stand up when I could sit, but aside from that, it smacks of something invented by women to denature men and make them more feminine.  There's a certain stripe of woman who will do that, and that is the kind of woman that no man needs to bother with.

    Considering using the bathroom is one of those times where I can escape the kids for a short time. Sitting while I pee has become a tactic so I can read in silence for a little bit  :laugh1:

    That's a plan.  Sometimes, when I need to "escape" (I only have the one son), I will go down to the Circle K and have an iced beverage and a snack.  Thirty minutes away can do wonders for frayed nerves.

    If you are the type that sprays and splatters everywhere, then sitting down would be the best option. If only people in public restrooms would sit down more, maybe there would be far less puddles.
