  • Do you think it is right to wear crosses for earrings? I have a couple of pairs that have been given to me and I don't wear them because it seems wrong to wear them as part of fashion. On the other hand, though, I have no problem in wearing a religious ring or necklace.

I am He who is- you are she who is not.

I think your Catholic sense has something there. After thinking about it even more, you really should not use such a sacred symbol as any fashion, even a necklace or ring. It really smacks of Protestant, that is, non-Catholic.

  • Are you saying you shouldn't wear a crucifix on a chain (necklace) ?  Even nun's wear crucifixes.  And what about the Pope's ring?   It certainly has religious symbols.

    As earrings....no way.

My wearing of a religious necklace or ring has nothing to do with fashion.  My question is if a pair of earrings in the shape of crosses is a symbol of my Christianity or more for fashion to the outside world?

I can wear a crucifix around my neck and that denotes I am a follower of Christ but do earrings mean the same thing?

  • I say  yes, wear the small shaped crosses.  Why? Because I know what will happen. People notice and say, I like your earrings and when they do, they are saying, I agree, I too look up to Christ.

That is the reaction I get when I where my Miraculous medal.  When I say my Rosary (to myself while walking the path at the rec. center) I get very few who agree and in fact I get more who disagree and start a conversation.

Today we need that, my opinion.

The early Christians who were in hiding might draw a fish sign in the dirt with a stick to another person standing next to them.

We get too much garbage in the world such as skulls and ugly faces on internet to shirts, stickers on cars and tatoos.

What you suggest is so subtle.  So, for the good and be ready for smiles and conversation.

  • Earrings of any kind are for fashion....period.

the previous poster has very good intentions but when the article is first and formost Jєωellery the intention doesn't supersede it.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Better to wear nice (not flashy) earrings and a crucifix on a chain.

  • Crosses (as distinct from Crucifixes) are usually associated with Protestantism. As earrings, they would strike me as being in bad taste, as well. Studs might not stay upright, and dangling crosses would simply lack dignity.
What return shall I make to the Lord for all the things that He hath given unto me?

  • Bodily mutilation (ear piercing) cannot be deemed a perfection of man. Catholics are called to perfection.
