  • Vienna, VA is a 5 hour drive and Carrollton is 6 hours. Too far to drive. But not for you.
The Mass is the Pearl of great price. What would you do if suddenly, all the water dried up within a 5-6 hour radius of your home? All the taps went dry and no one was selling any water. Your throat is dry and your thirst is unquenchable.

Would you sit on the computer and moan about it while your body slowly shuts down and withers away, OR would you drive the necessary 5 hours to get water or maybe even seriously consider moving somewhere there was fresh cold water?

the Mass is INFINITELY more important than water. Water sustains the body but the Mass sustains the soul. Think of the many Mexicans in colonial Spain who walked hours barefoot on dangerous roads to attend Mass. the Mass is the Pearl of infinitely great price. Consider it. Meditate on it. It may be the most important decision of your life. When you stand before the judgement seat of God, terrified, tiny, you will shed tears wishing and BEGGING for the chance to attend just one more Mass. just one more chance to receive Holy Communion to expiate your sins and Avert the fires of purgatory.

i don’t say this to judge you or play the role of your spiritual director but only to give you some serious food for thought but because I personally know many valiant old traditional Priests and laypeople who built tradition, who went to incredibly great lengths to establish Mass centres and attend Mass, many picking up their belongings and lives and  moving to faraway places to have access to Mass.
God cannot leave a soul to swim
That has not first abandoned Him.

  • It's called "telling it like it is", "fraternal correction", "instructing the ignorant", and "tough love".

I thought I was being quite polite.

What specifically do you disagree with in my post? The part about serving God above all things? That's objectively what we're all supposed to do, by the way.

What inspired my post? The whiny bit about having to sell 2 Traditional Mass missals at a loss, basically being a drama queen while publicly giving up on attending the Tridentine Mass. He obviously is not bedridden, has a car, etc. because he managed to get himself to the horrible Indult abomination he described. So why can't he make it to a better chapel, or even *uproot and move somewhere better*.

List for me ONE THING that is more important, or a higher consideration, than getting to a place where you can attend the True Mass at least once a month. I'll wait.

...What are you going to list? Family? Money? Friends? Attractions? Scenery? All of things are vain and temporary, and will have to be given up at death. Only serving God and being in the State of Grace matters.

Found the guy who doesn't belong on CathInfo.

This is a forum for "religious zealots". If you're not zealous for God and the Catholic Faith, you're basically a Sunday Catholic. This is a forum for those who love God, His Church, and the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass to a great degree.

And what, pray tell, WILL accomplish that task?

Agenda 2030? Science? Fɾҽҽmαsσɳɾყ? Sola Scriptura? Crystals? White Power?

And that's "Mass" or "The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass" to you bub.

Moshe detected? Post photo of nose.

  • In addition to what you say about God, you have NEVER experienced him judging by your Jimmy Swaggert style. God is kind, loving, and most of all understanding to each person's condition in life.
    .

My friend, I understand that you are in a difficult position and some people have come down kind of hard on you here, but what you say here is very troubling about your mentality. Yes, God is kind, but we have to do our utmost for God and His glory. When people tell you to make even great sacrifices in order to attend Mass, we are only telling you what the Church teaches. The idea that "God understands" is the way the Novus Ordo thinks. They downplay God's perfection and tell people the way to heaven is very easy due to God's mercy. But what did Our Lord say in the gospel? He said the path to heaven is "strait and narrow", and few there are that find it. It takes great sacrifice to get to heaven, and in our days those great sacrifices very often include making great sacrifices to get to Mass, which is the greatest means of grace there is. So if you tell yourself that you need not make great sacrifices to get to Mass because "God is kind ... and understanding," you have the opposite mentality of what the saints tell us is necessary to save our souls.

and few there are that find it.
Let alone actually follow it after finding it.

This post is beautiful, powerful and eloquent. I am disappointed with the membership of CathInfo that I am only the second person to give a thumbs up to this excellent post, which deserves ten or twenty thumbs up, or more. Thank you, pnw, this is very well done.

No need to compliment the forum contributors. If we relish the flattery too much, it's yet one more thing to bring to our confessors.

I try to be a zealot -- a zealous Catholic -- but my fallen nature often trips me up.

  • You make many assumptions and judgements. e.g. such as my wife. You should be ashamed of yourself but that is not going to happen. My wife just came out of a five year cancer battle and during chemo her colon burst spewing bacteria throughout her bloodstream. But to you that's drama.
Well it only takes one person to destroy a good forum and you take the Jackass prize for that.

    Goodbye to this forum.
Do we know whether this person did indeed leave the forum?

  • FYI:  I heard back from Lux Vera and they are in the process of investigating what is going on at the Abbey.  If I hear anything (and I can share), I will keep y'all posted.
Updates would be very much appreciated. When I was looking for a Mass option over two years ago, I saw Syon Abbey as a potential option that was listed. However, it said it was closed on Google Maps and information on it was incredibly sparse. Thank God that I decided to call and ask about the CMRI chapel in South Carolina instead, even though it was further away.

If what OP said was true with a priest at the abbey, I certainly will not be making an investigative trip up there. Too many red flags.
