  • It really depends on what you are doing also, a nurse or a police officer or a security guard may do nothing for long periods and then you have a GSW or a code. They may work long hours. A carpenter might have to wait for concrete to dry before pulling off forms etc.

  • We don't you contact them and ask if they know of some similar monastery in your country

    or..

Do an Ignatian retreat with SSPX and see where that leads.
Is it the sspx still 'good' with these things? I have concerns with their recent activity of 'Bishop' Huonder, and their dealings with 'rome'.

  • Catholics should work.

I cannot answer this but I understand that Ignatian retreats are given by individual priests and it would depend on that priest, so I would check the priest out before signing up. I have noticed that reliable posters here have recommended such a retreat fairly recently.

Douay Rheims says nothing about never taking 15 mins. tea breaks nor leaving 7 mins earlier in lieu. It doesn’t say anything about being slaves of the clock. Clocks were made for man, not man for the clock.

  • I used to worry about this alot.  In my jobs there is usually alot of downtime, I would leave work early, slack, etc.  In the past I would regularly confess about these issues.  The priest told me essentially, if there is no work to do, just make sure you are there and available during the time you are being paid.

Probably a good rule of thumb:  If you're concerned about sinning by slacking off, you're probably not sinning.
