Is it a sin for a Novus Ordo priest to say the New Mass?
-
Why would he even want to?
-
:wink:Objectively, yes. The novus ordo diminishes Jesus Christ, therefore it is a mortal sin for any priest to say it. HOWEVER, God may or may not hold it to the charge of the individual priest. On this matter, no man knows. Personal culpability for objective sin is left to God.

If he knows it's wrong and says it anyway, or if he says an especially blasphemous NO (i.e a clown mass), then yes, it would be a sin.
-
If he is ordained with the new rite of ordination, he is just a presider anyway, not even a priest, so that is sort of like asking is it a sin for a Protestant to say their service.
Only God knows that one.

Of course it is a sin for a protestant to say their service. It is a false religion. Worshiping in a false religion is a sin.

No.
Since the novus ordo is a mockery of Catholicism, is your blunt answer what you learned at shul where something of no value cannot be mocked?
I think the entire atmosphere at nous ordo is one of levity and a presider who engages in cajolery is inherently sinful.

What else would a Novus Ordo priest say if not the new mass?
I don't understand?
Is it sinful to say the new mass? No. It's an attack on your piety to attend a new mass. It's a road to lukewarmness. It's definitely not beautiful. What would any of the Saints of Old say if they witnessed it? What would St. Peter think? So........ maybe not necessarily sinful, but, not necessarily good.

Novus Ordo presiders and the novus ordo assembly are followers of Paul VI and the revolution and creation of a new church - the concilliar church. These are hard issues and we are going to have to face them.
Perhaps the novus ordo assembly are just uninformed and many today in the novus ordo assembly are under the age of 17 so for them Vatican II is, like, you know, ancient history. So, for them, Catholicism is ancient history and we need to move on.
Moving on from Catholicism is what I would consider a sin. How about you?

My answer is what I learn from the Church when she officially promulgates a liturgical rite. This somehow makes me Jєωιѕн? That is simply beyond stupid.

I have witness this in my family and close friends. Not one remained a
Catholic, I have a step brother that has a high position in the Moonies,
even married his current wife at a mass wedding at Madison Square
Gardens presided by the so-called Rev Moon. Others do not practice
no religion, or moved to Protestantism, and religions that allows them
to live sinful lives such as multiple divorces and remarriages, birth control,
and abortions.
What a different world we be living today if it was not for the revolution
provoked by Vatican 2.

I don't like anonymous posts. Especially when you have something critical to say about another post. It's not christian.

No, but to bluntly say that a "Mass" that turns Catholicism upside down is not sinful at least the "Latin rite" portion when we all read a post by you where you got all bent out of shape for some minor alterations of the Byzantine rite while you roll your eyes at the frustrations we have had forced down our throats and against our wills.
Our Latin rite never changed but we did see an counterfeit church arise from Vatican II.
And as for the Jєωιѕн comment, you know full we'll what I meant. It's not uncommon to criticize with faint praise nor to insult through omission. This is a Jєωιѕн trait and I think you are full aware of it.
Where do you frum?

I think it is sinful to say the New Mass, and especially the normal New Mass with altar girls, communion in the hand, extraordinary ministers, mostly women, banal and stupid ugly music and all the other abuses and signs of disrespect towards God which are normal in the Novus Ordo.
If the Mass were reverent and free of abuses, I still think it would be a sin, but not as great a sin as is usual with the Novus Ordo.
Anyway, I am only a simple layman, so you don't have to give my mere opinion much weight.

Is it a sin for a strict novus ordo presider ordained in the new rite to offer the Traditional Mass?

This is a good question. The only way it would be a sin is if he was not really a priest because the new rite of ordination was invalid. I am undecided on that question. If he was not a real priest then I think it would be a sin. But the priest would only be culpable if he knew that he was not a real priest and said Mass anyway.
