  • Realizing you have merited nothing your entire life and are additionally guilty of Sacrilege is probably one of the best ways to destroy your faith. Knowing that everything was fake and I was living a complete lie is absolutely devastating please pray for me that I don't fall into despair because this is the worst thing to happen to me.

On the bright side, once you get baptized validly, all of your temporal punishment for your WHOLE life is gone, so you're starting from scratch.  If your baptism was truly invalid, it's not your fault and God has a good reason for it.  He knew from all eternity that this would happen to you.  You can't change the past, so get baptized, move on, and try to live as the best catholic you can be!

  • How do you know that your Baptism was invalid?  If you didn't know (until now/recently), you're not "guilty" of sacrilege.  There's a simple remedy if in fact your Baptism was invalid.  Go get baptized.  Once you're baptized, every guilt of sin is washed away and you're in a similar state to a newly-baptized baby and would go straight to Heaven if you died right away afterward.  In the early Church, many deferred that Baptism for fear of sullying their Baptism by falling into sin after.  St. Augustine put it off until he was certain that he could persevere in the grace of Baptism.

  • Question here is whether you were actually invalidly baptized.  Given the tone of your post, I suspect that you're plagued with scrupulosity, and that suggests you may be prone to exaggerate toward the negative and assume the invalidity of your Baptism for trivial reasons that would not actually invalidate it.

So step 1 is to consult with a Traditional priest to determine whether your Baptism was actually invalid or if it's all in your head.  If it's determined that the Baptism was in fact invalid, then the priest can baptize you and all of your guilt for sin will be blotted out.  No need to even go to Confession for any past sins.

  • I knew one guy who concluded that his child's Baptism (in the Novus Ordo) was invalid because the priest said, "in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy SPIRIT" ... instead of "Holy Ghost".

  • I once had doubts about my baptism because the priest who baptized me was a modernist who wore polyester vestments in the 80's and later on left the priesthood. I never got re-baptized and I think I am alright. Perhaps I should get conditionally baptized.

I believe baptism can be given by sprinkling water on the baby's head. So if the water from the squirt gun hit the baby's head, the baptism may be valid.

This is more wicked than the Amish IMO because even NO sect priests have better formation than this. I pray God will make this baby aware of this so she can choose to be properly Baptized later.

  • Upon further research, it turns out that this was staged. At least that's what they claim. Regardless, that priest scandalized many who will only ever see this pic and assume it's a real attempt at baptism.

  • This was me posting the link above. I should have researched more before posting that pic. Sad thing is that I didn't doubt for one second that a priest would do such a thing in these days.

I also thought it was real. It reminded me of a picture of a priest holding up a consecrated dinner roll with tongs in a procession instead of a host in a monstrance.

  • In all seriousness though to the O.P., could you give us more info about your baptism? Like others have said, if there is any doubt about its validity you can receive a conditional baptism which will remit all your past sins AND the temporal punishment due to them! Heck, I kinda envy you! If your baptism was in fact invalid and you have a conditional one, you'll be spiritually cleaner/purer than all of us afterward! But like I said, we need more info about your original baptism to determine if there is in fact any doubt. I will be praying that the Holy Ghost will enlighten you.
