  • Greetings my fellow Catholics, my screen name is Steel cross. I have been baptized into the Catholic faith in my infancy. I consider myself a convert because I did not truly get into the catholic faith since the late 1990s. I always thought the novus or do mass was the traditional mass. It was the words of St. Padre Pio that caught my attention when he himself begged his superiors not to make him celebrate the mass of Vatican 2. That began my questioning.Years llater, I discovered the traditional mass, and not only did I see the difference, but I felt the difference! It lasted all day and through the next, just a huge amount of joy I cannot explain. And now I am a Traditionalist. This is my summed up story, and I still have my struggles. I even defended our faith against many non-catholics on another site that only has/had about at least 4 catholics including myself. I self deleted, but I plan on returning there with a stronger sense of our faith. I can speak of any topic.

  • I'm...oddly in the same boat as you on some things. (Welcome to the forum, btw.)

I too consider myself somewhat of a convert even though I was baptized when I was 2 because my first experiences with active religion were with Protestants in high school. If it weren't for the Protestants, I would've maybe converted to Judaism. (I am not making this up. Something about 17-year old me felt really enticed to it.)

You'll find a lot of people here who had the same experiences as you. Probably a good 99% of the forum and even a few who lived through the changes of Vatican II.

  • Thank you both. It is good to see many who wish to see the truth. :) Forgive me as I learn to navigate through this site.

  • Welcome. I think it is good to debate non-Catholics, unless of course you are a bad debater who makes the faith look bad. I don't debate non-Catholics very often because I don't think I would do a good job. I also consider myself a convert because I was brought up in the Novus Ordo which I consider to be a non-Catholic sect.
    R.I.P.
Please pray for the repose of my soul.

  • Lol, I know, non-catholics have their history so wrong. They only go far back to Constantine and some think he was the first pope. I also use scripture to back up our beliefs on the intercession of Blessed Mary Mother of God, and how wrong they are with idolatry. I was able to get at least one person toaaccept Mary as who she is, Queen of heaven and earth and Mother of our Lord. She now prays the hail Mary everyday.

  • Non-Catholics will memorize Holy Writ as if it is the only thing that will get them into Heaven. They seem to not realize that most of the things they so oppose, like the Blessed Mother's intercession and the making of St. Peter as the first Pope, are in the selfsame book they can quote ad nauseam. It's truly sad.
