  • I have been critical of Lindsey Graham but today he said some really uplifting things about protecting the unborn (at Gorsuch hearing).

He mentioned how science has learned new things since Roe v Wade was rolled over on us.. like a crushing boulder

even leftie lawyers do not like R v W.. say it is BAD LAW

you don't overturn a state law just bc you think abortion should be legal so that if you ever cheat on your wife... oh whatever... (you just wonder sometimes...)

you don't over-turn a reasonable law just bc of such silly sounding things as "emanations" and "penumbras"  that most americans don't u/stand and shouldn't have to understand

and you certainly do not violate the Constitution that says all have the right to LIFE, liberty and the pursuit of happiness"

obviously if you do not have that first right (LIFE) you can't exactly have the ones that follow

  • where are all the pro life folks?

we have so many in Congress who want to keep baby-killing legal so if they ever slip up...

and here is someone defending the unborn, and not just in some passing, 1-second comment but really standing up for the unborn

    and no one comments...

sorry, but this kind of apathy is how evil continues

  • Well, I'm pro-life, but I've never heard of Lindsey Graham.

Also it is very easy not to take posts in the anonymous section seriously, especially when they only touch on the party political level and not very deeply at that. So why don't you post in a more appropriate Section of the Forum? Maybe Fighting Errors in the Modern World, Politics and World Leaders or General Discussion.

That being said, I decided to find out who is this Lindsey Graham and what is he about. So I did a web search and came up with an interesting article below: http://www.ontheissues.org/Social/Lindsey_Graham_Abortion.htm

His achievements and stance go back to 1999 so he's no newchum and I only give the bare bones of the article here. He seems to have a pretty good track record over that time. The major flaw seems to be the repeated mistake, that may have been allowed for purposes of getting a motion passed, and that is the idea that abortion can ever possibly save the life of a woman. And the other is that abortion is to be illegal after 20 weeks or in the case of incest or rape or to save the life of the mother. So here is the skeleton of the article:

    Quote
    Lindsey Graham on Abortion

Defund Planned Parenthood: they harvest organs of the unborn
Q: Wouldn't defunding Planned Parenthood be seen as a "war on women"?
GRAHAM: I don't think it's a war on women for all of us as Americans to stand up and stop harvesting organs from little babies. Let's take the money that we would give to Planned Parenthood and put it in women's health care without having to harvest the organs of the unborn. The only way we're going to defund Planned Parenthood is have a pro-life president.

Reinforce Mexico City policy: defund overseas abortions
Q: What would be your first executive order?
GRAHAM: Change the Mexico City policy, not take one dime of taxpayer money to fund abortion organizations overseas, and restore the NSA that's been gutted….
Source: Fox News/Facebook Second Tier debate transcript , Aug 6, 2015

Pro-life, with exceptions for rape, incest, & maternal life
Graham would ban most abortions at 20 weeks. Graham defines himself as "pro-life" on abortion and sponsored a Senate bill to ban abortions 20 weeks after fertilization. He would make exceptions for cases of rape, incest or to save the life of the mother.
Source: PBS News Hour "2016 Candidate Stands" series , Jun 1, 2015

    Protect the sanctity of life
Graham is the original author of the Unborn Victims of Violence Act which recognizes the mother and unborn child as victims when they are injured or killed during the commission of a federal crime. Source: 2008 Senate campaign website, www.lindseygraham.com , Aug 12, 2008

Voted YES on restricting UN funding for population control policies.

Voted YES on prohibiting minors crossing state lines for abortion.

Voted YES on barring HHS grants to organizations that perform abortions.

Voted NO on expanding research to more embryonic stem cell lines.

Voted YES on notifying parents of minors who get out-of-state abortions.

Voted NO on $100M to reduce teen pregnancy by education & contraceptives.

Voted YES on criminal penalty for harming unborn fetus during other crime.

Voted YES on banning partial birth abortions except for maternal life.

Voted YES on funding for health providers who don't provide abortion info.

Voted YES on banning Family Planning funding in US aid abroad.

Voted YES on banning partial-birth abortions.

Voted YES on barring transporting minors to get an abortion.

Graham scores 0% by NARAL on pro-choice voting record.

Graham scores 100% by the NRLC on abortion issues, indicating a pro-life stance.

Graham co-sponsored prohibiting taking minors across state lines for abortion.
    • Makes an exception for an abortion necessary to safe (sic) the life of the minor.

Graham signed No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act (to prohibit federal funding for abortion).
    • Excludes from such prohibitions an abortion if: the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest; or the woman would be place in danger of death unless an abortion is performed.
Well, now that's off my mind, I'm off to bed.

thanks for that info. He did run for president this last election so kinda odd u didn't hear about him. That said, i didn't follow elections in years past so i would be far from criticizing...
anyway, yeh, since when does somehting as barbaric as partial birth abortion need to be done for the "life of the mother"?
who came up with that gem?
    this world is pathetic

yeh maybe murder should also be legal when
the child God gives you isn't perfect
you just don't want a child (doesn't that fall under the category of "life of the mother"?)
it is insane.. the whole abortion thing..
if you just change the word from abortion to murder, you find out how absolutely ridiculous all the "arguments" for abortion (murder) are..
murder should be legal if there is a rape or an act of incest involved... (etc)
people are stupid (most of them)

Not really. I don't even follow my own country's political shenanigans.  The whole procedure is a farce*.

    * a light, humorous play in which the plot depends upon a skillfully exploited situation rather than upon the development of character.

  • Hard to read this guy - sometimes he sounds like a liberal other times a conservative - in theological terms this would be a modernist.
