  • So today I went to a big box store in my neighborhood.  They had a sign outside stating nobody under 16 was allowed in the store, and if you looked under sixteen, you would be forced to produce a drivers license.  I took out my cell phone and started recording a video of the sign, then kept it running as I entered the doorway.  Upon entering, I see a huge wall-sized sign explaining store policy related to COVID19: All customers must wear a mask; if you don't have one, they will sell you one.  I keep the camera running, and attempt to pass through the turnstile, when I hear a voice say, "Excuse me, sir, you can't enter without wearing a mask."  I turn the camera on him, and explain that "I don't feel safe wearing a mask, as it compromises immune systems."  He responds that it is our store policy.  I retort that "It might be store policy, but it is not state law."  He says, "This is private property; I can call a general manager if you like."  I say do it.  While I am waiting, while still filming, I catch a guy filming me from across the entryway (who naturally, I recorded him back).  He is wearing a mask, so either he was a Nicodemus, or he was filming me to see what would happen.  Meanwhile, some customer walking in says something angrily as he passes by like, "F***in relax" and goes on his way.  Presumable, this was directed to me, as he was masked.  But it then became apparent to me that, despite this being a big box store with tons of traffic coming and going, people were aware that I was opposing the mask policy.  Finally, the GM arrives and asks if he can help me.  I tell him that I am being told that I cannot enter unless I wear a mask.  He says, "Are you recording me."  I respond yes.  He says, please turn off the camera (I divert the view, but continue recording audio).  He tells me I can go over to the counter and buy a mask, and repeats that this is private property.  I tell him "I guess I will just take my business elsewhere," and left the store.

As I was leaving the parking lot, I had the following impressions: First, I was the only one exhibiting a desire not to comply with a measure which immunologists say weakens the immune system.  This told me the masses were directed primarily by mainstream news and reacted accordingly.  Second, it made my protest frivolous: I was one person versus the 300 who passed by me perfectly content to submit to whatever policy comes next, regardless of the merits/demerits of that policy.  It showed me how small a minority we are.  Or, it showed me how cowardly many are, which more or less makes us a very small minority: Even those who may be watching alternative news sources, when it comes down to it, are willing to comply, so the tyranny advances.

All in all, it was a very discouraging experience, and I had the impression that I was a Russian or East German in 1950 behind the Iron Curtain.  I did not feel like an American.

What is happening to our country?

  • Anyone owning property can ask you to leave, for any reason.

If immunologists say it weakens the immune system, your best choice is to gather what they say, and get that to your governor, and spread it on social media.

    We need Catholic Action.

You have a backbone.  The ones entering the store wearing masks don't.
If we all had backbones, this Communist control would end.  Good bye
America the land of the sheep who want abortions, gαy marriages, divorce,
government schools for their children, and removing God from their lives.
In some ways, I will be glad to see it go.

  • Essentially, the associates at this store are no longer floor associates, but bar bouncers and security agents.  Pathetic!

Not quite.  You would be hauled off to jail if the private property is considered a "public accommodation" and you ask someone to leave because of their race, sex, sɛҳuąƖ orientation (or whatever it's called now), or certain other protected classes.
It just happens that a store can ask you to leave if you don't wear a mask because mask wearing isn't one of those protected classes.
I'll bet all those burqa wearing Muslim women are laughing now.

True, but if the owner wants to remove a person from a Federally protected class, he can get around it by not giving any reason. Like an employer who fires someone where it is "work at will".

  • If you see me now a few months ago you would think that I was on my way to rob a bank.

Except the only bank in town was robed by the Feds in 1927 when they discovered that the bank
employees had a distill in the basement making liquor in violation of the 18 Amendment.

I am about the only one seen wearing a mask in town even-though the Governor of the State of Colorado
signed an executive order requiring wearing a face mask under the penalty of fines and imprisonment.
We have a town marshal and I never seen him with a face mask. On his days off we have a
county sheriff deputy and he is not seen wearing a face mask.

You wear one because you are clueless! Are you afraid of the bogeyman virus getting you? If so, why don’t you just stay indoors instead of being a bad example to the rest of society. Just today I told someone off for scolding me for not wearing one.
For what doth it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and suffer the loss of his own soul? Or what exchange shall a man give for his soul?

  • Btw: my wife and my brother each told off two sheep today. My brother commented to me that “none of those people will bully someone about wearing a mask again”!

  • Good to know we are acting as Jesus would in our interactions with the world.
