How to find a TradCatholic wife?

  • I'm a man in my early-mid 20s. I live in Phoenix, AZ. I would like to get married but I'm fearful of accidentally marrying a woman with hidden modernist/feminist tendencies who will inevitably divorce me. There are almost no single women at my parish and I'm too shy to talk to them even if there were. Someone recommended CatholicMatch but it seems like just a bunch of Novus Ordos on there.

    Any advice? Thanks.

  • I think it is far easier to become a traditional priest or religious than to find a good wife in these times. Good luck to you and may God bless you in your search.

  • Maybe you could pray to Empress Zita.

  •   Maybe try pen pal by sending a letter to a traditional church and see if there are anyone  who will answer.

  • My good traditional Catholic friend met her husband in Catholic Match. He is also a Traditional Catholic. I think in these sad times we live in, online matching can be a good resource for trads.

Also, maybe moving closer to a bigger parish could help.

Also, pray to St. Raphael to help you find a wife.

I met mine on Catholic Match. Yes, it mostly N.O. but there are some Trads there. You just have to be persistent.

Also, the deal is going to be signed with Rome soon, so you'll have a whole lot of new Novus Ordo ladies to choose from...LOL.

    Sorry, my attempt at humor.

  • A friend's daughter is getting married in September to a man she met on CatholicMatch.  In our chapel there are also very few eligible singles because once they go away for college or move out of their parents' home, they quit practicing the Faith. The few singles remaining tend to be in their mid-30s and older. There are two single women in their late 20s, both with children out of wedlock, a few single men in the same situation, paying child support, widows, widowers, and four singles who are mentally/physically challenged.
I'd suggest CatholicMatch, but be sure you court in person for at least 8-12 months.  That may entail you having to move.   Meet her family, go to Mass together.  Certainly get counsel from a good priest before doing anything requiring a major commitment.  My friend's daughter's fiance moved from across the country and has a secure job, a condo, and both are mature.
Most of all, pray not only for a wife, but for the wife who is already known to Our Lord.

If my kids are going to quit practicing the faith then what's the point of even having a family? How could someone leave the one true Church?

  • The allure of the world and its pleasures can be overwhelming to a young person. Modern America is one giant sensuous party.

Sometimes, things change. Maybe they'll go back, maybe they won't.

You need to get over that if you want a wife.

  • I do not recommend Catholic dating sites. They can be a waste of time and money. It is rare for a marriage to result from having met on such a website. It can be an unhealthy attachment too. I say this all from experience. I saw on Catholic Match, for example, that many women put they accept the Church's teaching on contraception but would put their ideal number of kids as 1-2 or 3-5. I only know of one case where the woman said she was open to the number of children God would send even though she put down 3-5, but other than that, other cases seemed self-contradictory, unless 1-2 or 3-5 was just meant as merely an idea or ideal while still being open to God's will at the same time. I made some friends on there you could say, but other than that, there was no woman on there that I could see had any adequate interest in me. Most did not respond to my messages. Many of the women on those websites have attachments to the world like their career and traveling that are not ideal for making a good wife. Traditional Catholic girls I have come across may seem ideal, but there is a limitation of interest or of some other sort.  What come to mind to me are three things that Fr. Hewko told me a few years ago for finding a good traditonal Catholic wife:
    1) Does she have the Catholic faith?
    2) Is she open to the number of children God is to send her?
    3) Is she a woman of the home?
I would say to leave it in God's hands to meet someone in person. As hard as it might be, let the Lord lead the woman to you, if it is to be. The result is unhappiness and bitterness when you try to do things yourself through your own will. Even though it is not easy, it is best to simply allow God's will to work in your life. You'll be much happier in the end.

  • Catholic dating sites like Catholic Match are probably a waste of time and effort for all of the reasons given and more. Then again, if you wait for a deal (e.g. $50 for a six month membership), why not? Most people will spend much, much more on coffee or chocolate in same time period. You will at least chat with a few women who are conservative and TLM-exclusive. I think it's worth a try.

  • I know Matthew found his wife on an internet dating site, and others have also, so if I was looking for a wife I would check them out. Thankfully I made a promise to God that I would never touch a woman again in a sɛҳuąƖ way and (because I am a little older and have debts) I don't think I will be able to become a religious so I plan to be a single layman for life. Maybe I should join a third order or something.
