Many person I have come across have said that they aren't religious or they say religion is their relationship with God. I try to tell them that religion is what the Catholic Church, God's Divine Institution teaches, and that their personal relationship with God is not 'religion' or not the primary concern. But they do not care, they are so fooled by the protestant/masonic propaganda of the Church.

  • The Pharisees were very religious but they had no faith.

    Why anonymity?
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

  • I run into these types pretty often.  They often say they are "spiritual but not religious."
Surprisingly many of them are pantheists but there are many of the "Prot" types as well saying all you need is the Bible etc.

One go to I give them is if they actually want to have a relationship with God then they need to follow The Church He established and then look up and give Bible quotes to that effect.  (Pantheists usually won't buy this argument.)  They can't have a relationship with God without adhering to His Laws (many ignore the 10 Commandments to their destruction) and His Church.

Usually what it boils down to is that people want to love some certain sin more than God and so they want to find the easiest ticket to Heaven and think that some emotionalism they get is a relationship with God when it's actually a relationship with the devil.

Why do you always ask that question?

  • I used to know someone who said, to him, God meant "good orderly direction".

  • When someone states they have a personnel relationship with God, my reply is:  I have a personnel relationship with my husband and friends, I prefer Spiritual relationship with God.

Possibly some see Christ as only human. That is heresy.

But God desires our personal relationship with Him. After all God is three persons in one God but, being human, it is easier to have a personal relationship with Jesus as we can relate to Him also as a human

  • Most people who say that are just too lazy to put any effort into their relationship with God. They don't actually care who God really is. What they really care about is their idea of heaven- where Heaven is what they want it to be. Hearts and stars and cupcakes. Heaven to them is all the good things they wish they had or wish they could have kept here on earth.

Would someone like that be happy in heaven? Where their sole purpose of existence is to worship and adore God to the ends of all eternity? People like this don't know what heaven is or who God is, and they are too lazy to find out.

I've stopped saying much of anything to them. I make sure to include them in my prayers.
